    • The disclosure pertains to the field of reporting network capabilities in a cellular communication network. The disclosure relates to a method, performed in a wireless device 1, for providing a network capability report to a radio network node 10, wherein the wireless device and the radio network node are comprised in a wireless communications network. The method comprises receiving S2 from a network node 10, 4 in the wireless communications network 20 information specifying features that the wireless communication network supports for the wireless device 1. The method further comprises determining S3 capabilities of the wireless device with regard to the specified features and sending S4 to the radio network node 10 a network capability report message defining the capabilities of the wireless device with respect to the specified features. The disclosure also relates to corresponding nodes and to a computer program.

    • In one aspect of the teachings herein, a wireless device (22) operating in a wireless communication network determines the measurement rate to use for making inter-frequency measurements on a given frequency layer, based on a performance requirement specified for that layer. For example, the wireless device (22) uses a higher measurement rate for a frequency layer that has a performance requirement that is higher than the performance requirement specified for another one of the layers on which it is to perform inter-frequency measurements. Correspondingly, in an example scenario, a network node sends measurement configuration information to a targeted device, where that information indicates the layers on which the device is to perform inter- frequency measurements and indicates the performance requirements corresponding to respective ones of those layers. By way of example, the network node may be a base station, a relay, or another wireless device (22).

    • A connection setup method of a wireless communication device adapted to be operated in a heterogeneous cellular communication network is disclosed. The heterogeneous cellular communication network comprises at least a first cell and a second cell, respectively associated with a first cell layer and a second cell layer of the heterogeneous cellular communication network. The wireless communication device is adapted to use a serving cell associated with the first cell layer or the second cell layer when the wireless communication device is in an active mode, and to use a camping cell associated with the first cell layer when the wireless communication device is in an idle mode. The method comprises detecting, when the wireless communication device is in the active mode and uses the second cell as the serving cell, that the serving cell is associated with the second cell layer. In response to detecting an upcoming transfer to the idle mode, the method comprises storing connection setup parameters of the second cell and transferring to the idle mode, wherein transferring comprises selecting the first cell as the camping cell. The method also comprises, when the wireless communication device is in the idle mode, detecting an upcoming transfer to the active mode and transferring to the active mode, wherein transferring comprises setting up a connection to a cell of the heterogeneous cellular communication network based on the stored connection setup parameters of the second cell. Corresponding computer program product, arrangement and wireless communication device are also disclosed.

    • A technique for scheduling an inter-carrier measurement in a communication network serving a mobile device (200) over a serving carrier is provided. As to a method aspect of the technique, a method (400) comprises the steps performed by the mobile device of publishing (410) a measurement interval, requesting (420) radio time and scheduling (430) the inter-carrier measurement based on the at least one request. The published measurement interval is a measurement interval on the serving carrier. The measurement interval is published to a multiplicity of measurement managing components (110, 112, 114, 116). Each of the measurement managing components is associated with at least one carrier. At least one of the measurement managing components submits a request for radio time. The technique thus allows for a more scalable implementation of a plurality of different carriers or radio access technologies.
