    • A scroll compressor includes a compression mechanism having a stationary scroll and an orbiting scroll in engagement with each other, a crank shaft for causing orbiting of the scroll relative to the stationary scroll, a bearing member for rotatably supporting the crank shaft and having a thrust bearing for axially supporting the orbiting scroll, an electric motor for driving the crank shaft, and an eccentric bearing radially movably accommodated within a recess defined in an end portion of the crank shaft. The orbiting scroll has a shaft journaled in the eccentric bearing. A leaf spring is interposed between the eccentric bearing and a side wall of the recess for pressing the eccentric bearing radially outwardly. The eccentric bearing has inclined planes defined on an external surface thereof for receiving a biasing force of the leaf spring so that an axial component of the biasing force is directed towards the crank shaft. Instead of forming the inclined planes on the eccentric bearing, an inclined plane may be formed on a pressure member mounted on the eccentric bearing.

    • A scroll compressor has a closed vessel, a compression mechanism accommodated in the closed vessel and including a non-orbiting scroll and an orbiting scroll in engagement with each other, and an electric motor for driving the compression mechanism. The non-orbiting scroll includes a frame portion and a non-orbiting end plate axially movable relative to the frame portion. The frame portion has a recess defined therein and a pin secured thereto. The non-orbiting end plate has a cylindrical wall integrally formed therewith and loosely received in the recess, thereby radially positioning the non-orbiting end plate relative to the frame portion. The non-orbiting end plate also has a recess defined therein in which the pin is loosely received, thereby circumferentially positioning the non-orbiting end plate relative to the frame portion. The pin is hardened so as to have a Rockwell hardness of more than 35 on scale C and has a chemical compound layer deposited thereon, to thereby minimize wear thereof.

    • A scroll compressor includes a fixed scroll and an orbiting scroll which define therebetween a plurality of compression chambers for compressing fluid introduced via a suction port. The orbiting scroll has a base plate and a shaft portion extending from the base plate toward a crankshaft rotatably supported by a support member. A seal member is disposed between the base plate and the support member to define an inner region and an outer region. The inner region surrounds the shaft portion, while the outer region includes therein a rotation preventing member interposed between the base plate of the orbiting scroll and the support member. The inner region communicates with the outer region via an oil-feed passage formed through the orbiting scroll. The oil-feed passage includes therein a restrictor and opens in the neighborhood of an upper sliding portion between the rotation preventing member and the support member. Thus, lubricating oil supplied to the inner region is fed to the neighborhood of the upper sliding portion via the oil-feed passage for lubrication thereof. The lubricating oil collects downward due to the gravity to achieve lubrication of a lower sliding portion between the rotation preventing member and the support member.
