    • A storage device includes a partition wall dividing an interior of a casing into a disk chamber and a drive chamber. Recording disks are rotatably disposed in the disk chamber. Arms, each supporting a read/write head at a distal end portion thereof are capable of exteding into the respective spaces between the recording disks through an opening of the partition wall. An actuator is mounted within the drive chamber for linearly reciprocating the arms to cause the heads to skim across recording surfaces of the recording disks. An interrupting surface is formed on a portion of the partition wall at a downstream side of the arm with respect to an air flow due to the rotation of the recording disks, for interrupting the air flow to convert a dynamic pressure of the air flow into a static pressure thereof. With this arrangement, the air is prevented from flowing back from the drive chamber into the disk chamber.

    • A magnetic disk storage system in which magnetic disk drives can be cooled effectively, and even if a blast device for one of he magnetic disk drives fall into trouble or cease operation, a temperature rise of this magnetic disk drive can be suppressed to the minimum. For this purpose, in the magnetic disk storage system containing a plurality of magnetic disk drives, blase devices ae provided for each of the disk drives, and the disk drives are separated by partitions in which openings are formed so that the cooling air can be passed between adjacent magnetic disk drives. With this structure, even if a blast device for a certain magnetic disk drive is out of order or stopped, a part of the cooling air from a blase device for the adjacent disk drives flows into the magnetic disk drive in question through the openings formed in the partitions, and consequently, the temperature rise of the magnetic disk drive whose blase device ceases operation can be suppressed to the minimum, to thereby enhance the reliability of the magnetic disk storage system.

    • Embodiments of the present invention provide a simpler, miniaturizable, and highly reliable hermetically sealed enclosure structure in a disk drive device. According to one embodiment, a hard disk drive (HDD) comprises an HDD main unit, a case for housing the HDD main unit, a lid with a feedthrough function for closing an opening of the case, and an FPC connector for interconnecting the HDD main unit and a plurality of pins fixed to the lid. The lid is joined to the case and completely closes the opening of the case. The case and the lid form a sealed enclosure; the internal HDD main unit is housed in the sealed space. Housing the HDD main unit in a sealed space may increase resistance of the HDD to external environmental changes. Sealing low density gas like helium in the sealed space may improve the performance of the HDD.

    • Embodiments of the present invention help to prevent leakage of low-density gas during low-density gas injection into a disk drive device and to perform low-density gas injection efficiently. In a hard disk drive (HDD) according to one embodiment of the present invention, an injection hole filter with a valve function is attached to a helium injection hole in order to inject helium gas in an enclosure. The injection hole filter has a valve member configured to operate in an open state or closed state. The open state is a state while the helium gas is being injected and the closed state is a state after the helium gas has been finished to be injected. The valve member is in the open state if the outside pressure is higher than the inside pressure and is in the closed state if the inside pressure is higher than the outside pressure.
