摘要： An adsorbent useful for the adsorption of radioactive nuclides which comprises fibrous active carbon having a specific surface area of 1,000 m.sup.2 /g or more and an equilibrium moisture regain of 10% or more at a relative humidity of 45%; and a process for the volume-reduction treatment of radioactive liquid waste which comprises subjecting radioactive liquid waste containing radioactive nuclides to an adsorption treatment using an adsorbent comprising fibrous active carbon having a specific surface area of 1,000 m.sup.2 /g or more, and subsequently subjecting the spent adsorbent to an incineration treatment at a temperature which is equal to or higher than the ignition point of the fibrous active carbon.

摘要： A brake lining for a railroad car has a frictional surface on a brake disc that is pressed by a brake caliper. Friction bodies are pressed against the frictional surface of the brake disc and a back plate is mounted to the caliper to support the friction bodies. Each of the friction bodies is formed with a friction material which contacts the brake disc frictional surface, and has a base plate attached on the back plate side of the friction material. The base plate has a protrusion formed on its back side. On the friction body side of the back plate there is formed a groove which contacts the protrusion formed on the base plate. A disc spring or a spherical-seated structure is disposed between the base plate of each friction body and the back plate. Friction bodies are prevented from rotating at their attached places, without adding new components.

摘要： An electrolyte membrane having a structure wherein fine rubber particles having substantially no ion-conducting group and having an average particle size of 20 nm to 1 μm are uniformly dispersed in a matrix including a resin component having ion-conducting group. The electrolyte membrane has high bonding ability to electrodes and does not cause cracks and ruptures because it is kept flexible even under low humid or absolutely dried condition, in addition, shows high ion conductivity even under low humid or absolutely dried condition because the matrix having ion-conducting groups are continuous.
