    • The present invention relates to a device for measuring object distance or an in-focus position used for a camera in which the object distance of focus adjusting condition are measured in a plurality of distance measuring areas in the photographing scene. The device is so constructed as to judge a main object from weight data in correspondence not only with the object distance of each distance measuring area but with the position thereof in the photographing scene. Further, when there is an object nearer than a predetermined distance, the main object is judged from whether the object has a size larger than a predetermined size in the photographing scene. Furthermore, it is judged from the difference between the object distances of adjacent distance measuring areas whether the objects are the same object.

    • A focus detecting device capable of correcting an error, between an in-focus position of a photographic lens detected by a focus detecting means and an image field position affording the best image. Focus detection is made using plural focus detecting areas provided on and off the optical axis of the photographic lens, to obtain an in-focus position. Then, the thus-obtained in-focus position of the photographic lens is corrected using an appropriate correction value out of those preset and stored in a ROM in the lens according to whether the focus detecting area used in the focus detection is an axial or off-axial area, or according to the focal length of the photographic lens as well as the photographing mode. And the photographic lens is thereby set to the best image field position.

    • A door unit for selectively opening and closing an opening in an object includes a door having a bendable slatted door body and a flexible sheet member positioned over the door body. Guide grooves in the object slidably guide at least the door body, and the respective ends of the door body and the sheet member are connected on one end in the sliding direction. By setting an appropriate spacing between the guide grooves, the generation of noise that would otherwise be caused by the door body and the sheet member rubbing against each other when they are opened or closed, is avoided. The use of the separate sheet member also significantly increases the options for the material to be employed for the design surface of the door unit.

    • An apparatus configured to discriminate the genuineness of a certified paper by exposing the paper to a light source and transporting the paper through an environment of an alternating-current electromagnetic field. Light detectors detect the light reflected from the paper and the light emitted by a fluorescent ink on the paper and output a waveform corresponding to the intensity of the detected light, reflected light, and the detected emitted light as the paper is scanned. The resulting waveforms are used to discriminate the genuineness of the paper. The fluorescent light and reflected light can be optically split and directed to separate detecting devices. Furthermore, the alternating-current electromagnetic field can be controlled by a voltage controller and configured to be driven only when the sensor detects light from the fluorescent ink.

    • A copying apparatus produces a composite copy from an original document having a plurality of sheets and a final sheet having a desired format or overlay. The original document and the final format sheet are placed together in the same sheet feeding device. The format sheet is the last sheet in the sheet feeding device. The original sheets are fed to a printing device having a single exposure section. Images on the original sheets are copied onto blank paper which is fed to the printing device from a first paper location. The copies of the original documents are then sent to a second or intermediate paper location. The final sheet having the desired overlay or format is then fed to the same exposure section of the printing device. The copies of the original documents which are stored in the second paper location are then fed to the printing device, and the image on the format sheet is copied onto the paper received from the second paper location. The finished composite copies are then exited from the copying apparatus. The finished composite copies include images from both the original sheets and the format sheet.
