    • A medal counting apparatus installed in a game parlor for counting medals which a game player has won, is disclosed. The medal counting apparatus comprises a counter for counting the medals, a medal supplying mechanism for receiving the medals to be dumped and for supplying them sequentially to the counter, a dump restraining unit for restraining the medals from being dumped into the medal supplying mechanism and a control unit for controlling operations of the medal supplying mechanism and the dump restraining unit. The medal supply control means puts the medal supplying mechanism into a stopped state when the dump restraining unit restrains the medals from being dumped and into an operation state when the dump restraining unit permits dumping of the medals. The control unit also instructs the dump restraining unit to close the receiving hopper when a medal dump restraining signal is input from the outside or the counter has not been used for a certain period of time. When there is a request to dump medals, the control unit then instructs the dump restraining, unit to open the receiving hopper.

    • The paper strip conveying apparatus includes a conveying roller which is provided in such a manner that the outer peripheral plane comes into contact with one surface of a paper strip, a roller drive mechanism which rotates the conveying roller and a paper strip biasing member which is provided in such a manner that the tip portion comes into contact with the other surface of the paper strip. A convex portion is formed circularly along the outer peripheral plane of the conveying roller. The paper strip biasing member has a concave portion into which the convex portion of the conveying roller fits without contact at the tip portion. When the paper strip is sandwiched between the conveying roller and the paper strip biasing member, since the convex portion of the conveying roller fits into the concave portion of the paper strip biasing member, the paper strip is forcedly flexed so as to be urged onto the convex portion of the conveying roller and conveyed by the rotation of the conveying roller. In the other cases, since the conveying roller and the paper strip biasing member do not come into contact with each other, the conveying roller does not receive any external force, which results in reduction of rotation load of the conveying roller.

    • A liquid supply unit includes a main tank, a sub-tank, a pressure supply mechanism, an air communication hole, an air-permeable film and an excess pressure dispersion unit. The main tank stores liquid. The sub-tank is provided in a jet device, which ejects liquid droplets, and connected to the main tank. The pressure supply mechanism applies predetermined pressured to liquid in the main tank for supplying the liquid to the sub-tank. The air communication hole is provided on an upper surface of the sub-tank and communicates inside of the sub-tank with atmospheric air. The air-permeable film is provided for closing the air communication hole. The air-permeable film passes air, but not liquid. The excess pressure dispersion unit disperses excess pressure from the liquid supply unit when the liquid in the sub-tank becomes in contact with the air-permeable film and the pressure inside the sub-tank becomes higher than the predetermined pressure.

    • An air removal device for ink supply mechanism is provided which ensures separation of ink from an air permeable membrane after removal of air is completed. The air removal device includes an ink chamber, an air discharge passage, an air permeable membrane, a pump, and a movable member. The movable member is designed to be displaced between a first position and a second position. When the movable member is displaced to the second position to operate the pump, air collected in the ink chamber is discharged to the air discharge passage. When the pump is stopped and the movable member is displaced to the first position, one or both of air left in a portion of space in the ink chamber and air present downstream in an air discharge direction of the air permeable membrane flows in between the air permeable membrane and the ink inside the ink chamber.
