    • A data transmission control system for allowing remote transceiver stations to transmit data via a telephone line or like analog transmission line through modems. When transmit and receive stations have been interconnected by a call, a training sequence for the modem is executed and, also, a test signal transmission sequence is effected to set up a data transmission rate before delivery of information. When the receive station has received test training data inclusive of a plurality of transmission rates from the transmit station, the function of the modem at the receive station is checked with respect to each of the transmission rates on a signal space diagram, thereby determining whether the receive station is capable of normally receiving data at the transmission rate. Training on the transmission rates which a modem can use is executed satisfying a predetermined protocol and without increasing the protocol time.

    • The present invention provides a rice food product stuffed with a filling ingredient, which is prevented from leaking out of a rice portion even if it is a fluid filling ingredient. A stuffed rice ball (1) according to the present invention includes a filling ingredient (2), a half-mashed rice portion (3) which encloses the filling ingredient (2), and a non-mashed rice portion (4) which encloses the half-mashed rice portion. The filling ingredient (2) may be primarily enclosed with a first half-mashed rice portion (3), which is further enclosed with a second half-mashed rice portion (3). The second half-mashed rice portion is further enclosed with a non-mashed rice portion (4). As a result, a rice ball can be provided, which is properly stuffed with a fluid filling ingredient, and has an excellent rice texture.

    • A facsimile machine for use as a terminal in a communication network includes a scanner for optically reading an original document to produce graphic information and a keyboard for producing character information and control information as operated by an operator. The graphic and character information thus inputted is then combined to form mixture information which is transmitted to a receiver terminal as long as the receiver terminal is capable of receiving such mixture information. If the receiver terminal has been found to be not equipped to receive such mixture information, the present facsimile machine automatically converts the character portion of the mixture information to graphic information thereby making all the information to be graphic prior to transmission to the receiver terminal.
