    • In a crystallized glass article consisting of crystallized glass masses fusion bonded together and having a principal surface, said principal surface having a surface pattern determined by said masses in a surface layer including said principal surface, said small crystallized glass masses in said surface layer are mainly of flaky crystallized glass pieces, each being a relatively large flattened piece, said flaky pieces overlapping one another at random to make said principal surface rough, said crystallized glass masses in another layer adjacent to and fused to said surface layer being considerably smaller than said flaky pieces. The article is produced by preparing flaky pieces and the smaller masses both of a SiO.sub.2 --Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 --CaO crystallizable glass, putting the former pieces on a bottom of a mold to form a flaky-piece layer, then putting the latter masses on the flaky-piece layer to form a small-mass layer, and heat treating the both layers at a temperature higher than a softening point of the crystallizable glass to fusion bond the pieces and masses together as well as crystallizing the glass.

    • An infrared transparent glass ceramic article is useful for top plates of cooking stoves and has a black appearance but an infrared transmittance of about 80% or more for an infrared light of a wavelength 1,500 nm, and .beta.-quartz solid solution crystals substantially alone dispersed within glassy matrix without any other crystals. The article consists essentially, by weight, of 60-72% SiO.sub.2, 14-28% Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, 2.5-5.5% Li.sub.2 O, 0.1-0.9% MgO, 0.1-0.9% ZnO, 3-6% TiO.sub.2, 0.03-0.5% V.sub.2 O.sub.5, 0.1-1% Na.sub.2 O, 0-1% K.sub.2 O, 0-2% CaO, 0-2% BaO, 0-2% PbO, 0-2% As.sub.2 O.sub.3, 0-3% ZrO.sub.2, and 0-3% P.sub.d O.sub.5. The article is produced by forming a desired shape of glass article having the ingredients, heating the glass article at a temperature of 650.degree.-800.degree. C. to nucleate in the glass, heating the glass article at a temperature of 800.degree.-950.degree. C. to thereby precipitate .beta.-quartz solid solution crystals alone in the glass, and cooling the article to the room temperature.

    • A first thermoplastic resin for forming the shell of an article is charged into the front portion of an injection cylinder and a second thermoplastic resin for forming the core of the article is charged into the rear portion of the injection cylinder. Both resins are substantially separated, being in contact only a central area of the cross-sectional plane of the injection cylinder. These thermoplastic resins are injected in a mass into a mold cavity with the second resin enveloped by the first resin, and finally solidified in the mold cavity resulting in a molded article having sandwich construction. Various sandwich articles can be obtained easily by means of a single injection molding machine. The process also allows repeated injection operations without exposure of the core material on the surface of the molded article.
