    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a start entrance structure for a shield machine in which a large cross section tunnel can be excavated without inflow of sediment into a vertical shaft even under a high water pressure condition.SOLUTION: A start entrance structure comprises an outer entrance 30 which is provided at an opening edge portion of a start opening 1 and through which a shield machine 10 passes, and an inner entrance 50 which is detachably provided at a rear end portion of the shield machine 10 and installed inside of the outer entrance 30 after start of the shield machine 10. The outer entrance 30 includes first water cut-off means 31 which is brought into contact with an outer peripheral surface of the shield machine 10 and then brought into contact with an outer peripheral machine of the inner entrance 50. The inner entrance 50 includes second water cut-off means 55 which is brought into contact with an outer peripheral surface of a tunnel 20. The first water cut-off means 31 and the second water cut-off means 55 are constructed either in a tube seal structure or in a compression shield structure.
