    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure for temporarily supporting a foundation, which enables base isolation of an existing building to be performed in a short construction period.SOLUTION: A base isolation structure includes: an installation space formed under a foundation 3 of an existing building 1; a mat slab constructed on the bottom surface of the installation space; and a base-isolating device provided on the mat slab to support a section 13, which is positioned directly below a column, of the foundation 3. A temporary support structure temporarily supports the foundation 3 of the existing building 1 in the construction of the base isolation structure. The temporary support structure includes: an excavation space 21a formed by excavating ground 6 under a section 14, which is not positioned directly below the column, of the foundation 3; a reaction base 30 of precast concrete construction, which is installed on the bottom surface of the excavation space 21a; and timbering 40 provided on the reaction base 30 to temporarily support the section 14, which is not positioned directly below the column, of the foundation 3. The reaction base 30 can be utilized as a part of the mat slab.
