    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage structure for radioactive waste capable of encapsulating waste such as various sorts of radioactive garbage contaminated with highly radioactive materials and safely storing the waste over a long period, and that are capable of stably stacking the waste, and to provide a storage method for the radioactive waste,.SOLUTION: A storage structure 1 comprises: a concrete made main body 2 shaped like a square container with an open top; a concrete made lid body 3 covering the open top of the main body 2; and diffusion preventing film which is disposed within an accommodation part 23 in a doubly laminated manner. In the storage structure 1, a notch 24 is provided on an outer side of each corner at which two adjacent lateral surfaces 22 and 22 intersect, an insert metal fitting 25 is embedded from the notch 24 to the inside, and a recessed part is formed at four corners of a bottom surface. The lid body 3 comprises: a protruding part provided on an underside and facing the accommodation part 23; a notch provided on an outer side of each corner; and an insert metal fitting 33 which is embedded from the notch to the inside. Accordingly, highly radioactive waste is accommodated inside the diffusion preventing film disposed within the accommodation part 23 of the main body 2.
