    • A wrist-worn electronic device includes an antenna that receives externally transmitted radio signals; a case of which at least part is made of a non-conductive material; an information display unit that is housed inside the case, is flat, and is made of a non-conductive material; a back cover that is attached to the case and is made of a conductive material; and a reception unit that is positioned and housed inside the case between the information display unit and the back cover, and processes a reception signal based on radio signals received by the antenna. The antenna has an antenna electrode that is disposed and formed as a line around the outside of the information display unit. The back cover is connected to the ground potential of the reception unit and reflects the radio signals.

    • An electronic timepiece with internal antenna maintains sufficiently high reception performance of circularly polarized waves even when having a metal external case. The timepiece has a cylindrical case; a crystal that covers the opening on the face side of the case; a drive mechanism that arranged inside the case; a metal antenna; and a dielectric. The antenna houses the drive mechanism and has a cylindrical side part, a bottom part that covers the opening on the back side of the side part, and an antenna electrode that contacts the inside of the side part. The back cover covers the back side of the case and is also the bottom part. The dielectric extends circumferentially to the side part, and contacts the antenna electrode in the face-back cover direction. A slot extending circumferentially is formed in the antenna electrode. Part or all of the slot is covered by the dielectric.

    • A radio-controlled timepiece that receives a standard time signal containing a time code and adjusts the time based on the received standard time signal includes: a reception unit that receives the standard time signal; an analog/digital conversion unit that digitizes the received standard time signal based on a prescribed threshold value; a time counter that keeps time; a time code generator that generates a reference time code based on the time counted by the time counter; a duty evaluation unit that calculates the pulse duty cycle of the digital signal output from the A/D conversion unit, and determines if the received pulse duty cycle that is calculated matches the duty cycle of the reference time code generated by the time code generator; a level changing unit that changes the relative level of the threshold value to the reception signal if the duty evaluation unit determines that the received pulse duty cycle does not match the duty cycle of the reference time code; and a time code decoder that decodes the digital signal and demodulates the time code if the duty evaluation unit determines that the received pulse duty cycle matches the duty cycle of the reference time code.

    • A reception circuit can receive a plurality of standard time signals and has a reception means for selectively receiving and demodulating any one of the plural standard time signals, and a control means for outputting a control signal that controls the reception means. The reception means includes a signal amplifier unit for amplifying a reception signal representing the received standard time signal; a signal extraction unit for extracting a signal of a specific frequency from the amplified reception signal; a rectifier unit for rectifying the extracted signal of the specific frequency; and a demodulation unit for demodulating the rectified signal of the specific frequency. The signal extraction unit includes a plurality of crystal filters corresponding to the frequencies of the plural standard time signals; a plurality of parallel capacitances corresponding to the plural crystal filters and parallel connected to the plural crystal filters; a filter switching unit for switching the plural crystal filters based on the control signal; and a parallel capacitance switching unit for switching the plural parallel capacitances based on the control signal. The control means outputs to the filter switching unit and the parallel capacitance switching unit a control signal denoting the switch states enabling the reception means to receive the standard time signal.

The positioning device also has signal discrimination unit for identifying the start of receiving a data transmission block containing the non-contiguously transmitted almanac data, and identifying the end of receiving the data transmission block containing the almanac data. The reception unit intermittently receives the signals of the data transmission blocks containing the almanac data by receiving the navigation messages in the reception time of the data transmission blocks containing the almanac data identified by the signal discrimination unit.
