摘要： A co-extruded polymer film used for wrapping bales of rubber ("bale wrap") is disclosed. The bale wrap includes a first layer having a low melting point and a second layer having a relatively higher melting point. The bale wrap has a low melting point overall, which is desirable because a lower melting point improves the ability of the film to be incorporated into a homogeneous mixture of rubber and rubber compounding ingredients. Bale wraps having a low melting point often result in a film that tears or becomes quite sticky when wrapping hot rubber. When this occurs, the bales often stick to each other within shipping containers, which makes it difficult to remove the bales from the container and to separate the bales from one another. This condition is known as "blocking". The disclosed bale wrap is co-extruded to provide a composite low melting point while still having an outer layer exhibiting a relatively higher melting point layer thereby preventing the wrapped bales from blocking.

A thin inelastic membrane is formed at each of the weld points. The welded composite may then be pre-stretched to rupture the membranes, thereby creating apertures, which makes the composite permeable.
