    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent lubricating oil from deterioration due to its temperature rise by avoiding lubricating oil that has lubricated an exhaust valve spring sheet part from passing just above an exhaust port.
      SOLUTION: This cylinder head of an internal combustion engine has two exhaust valves in one air cylinder and has exhaust side lubricating oil return passages 6 into which lubricating oil that has lubricated an exhaust valve spring sheet part 3 is led to flow. The exhaust side lubricating oil return passages 6 are formed in the upper part of an exhaust port 5 in an exhaust valve side part on a side opposite to an intake valve, and also arranged separately in each exhaust valve and extended from the exhaust valve side part to a mutually opposite side.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To pressurize and fit a cam bearing having a recess portion in a part into a bearing portion of a journal portion of a camshaft and insert a head bolt into the recess portion by providing a flange at least on a side having the recess portion. SOLUTION: A recess portion 6, in which a head bolt 7 connecting a cylinder head 8 and a cylinder block 9 is inserted, is provided on a part of a bearing portion 5 of the cylinder head 8. Consequently, the cylinder head can be shortened only by the length equivalent to a diameter of a bolt head of the head bolt 7 or that of a washer below the bolt head. Therefore, degree of freedom in design can be increased and the engine weight can be reduced. Also, on a cam bearing 4 that is to be inserted between the outer periphery of a journal portion 3a and the bearing portion 5 of the cylinder head 8, a flange 4a is provided on the recess portion 6 side 13 and a flange 4b on the opposite side. As a result, rigidity of the cam bearing 4 is increased and deformation is lessened, thus preventing leakage of working fluid and reducing deterioration of response speed of a variable valve timing mechanism, etc.
