    • PURPOSE:To safely run a vehicle for minimum siding of a vehicle by fully opening an air passage bypassing an electronic throttle valve when an abnormality in a computer or an actuator for driving the electronic throttle valve is detected. CONSTITUTION:Upon occurrence of an abnormality of an electronic throttle valve 12 in an electronically controlled internal combustion engine incorporating bypass passages 18, 19 bypassing the throttle valve 12 which is provided in an intake-air passage 2 and which is not mechanically coupled to an accelerator pedal 20, a vehicle can safely run. Accordingly, the siding running device incorporates throttle full closing means for controlling the throttle valve 12 so as to fully open the latter when an abnormality occurs if the control is carried out such that the opening degree of the accelerator is not associated with the opening degree of the throttle valve, and emergency intake-air supply means for controlling a flow control valve 16 provided in the bypass passage 18 so as to fully open the latter upon occurrence of the abnormality. Further, a desired output power of the engine is computed from an accelerator opening degree, and a fuel injection volume and an ignition timing for the engine are compensated in accordance with the desired output power.

    • PURPOSE:To enable accurate detection of abnormality in the course of a low- speed operation and also suppression of occurrence of an erroneous diagnosis in the course of a high-speed operation. CONSTITUTION:The amount of depression of an acceleration pedal 11 is detected by an acceleration sensor 12 and taken in a control part 13. A stepping motor 14 is driven in conformity with an excitation pattern outputted from the control part, while the value travel of a throttle valve 17 is detected by a value travel sensor 18 and taken in the control part. A target step is set in accordance with the amount of depression of the acceleration pedal and a drive speed is determined in accordance with a deviation from the current step. Moreover, a threshold value for diagnosis of abnormality is determined in proportion to the drive speed. Accordingly, the accuracy of the diagnosis of abnormality can be kept high by setting the threshold value to be small during a low-speed operation of the stepping motor, and also suppression of an erroneous diagnosis is enabled by setting the threshold value to be large during a high-speed operation.

    • PURPOSE:To detect abnormality generated in two signal series in early stages in the signal system in which one displacement quantity is read by dividing it into two systems. CONSTITUTION:An offset calculation means 5 which sets difference between two series data read in first when a power source is applied as an offset, and a series abnormality detecting means 7 which takes the difference between both the data for the two series data succeding to the two series data reading in an offset value first and detects the abnormality in the two series by a value obtd. by subtracting the offset from the difference are provided in the signal system which reads in one displacement quantity by the two series. The difference between the signals of the two series goes to only the one based on the abnormality in each signal series, which enables the abnormality of the signal series to be detected in early stages.
