摘要： PURPOSE:To improve resistance to permanent set in fatigue and durability by incorporating specific ratios of Al, Mn and N into a high-Si spring steel. CONSTITUTION:The compsn. of the spring steel is constituted, by weight, of 0.40-0.70% C, 1.40-2.50% Si, 0.50-1.80% Mn, 0.015-0.050% Al, 0.012-0.030% N, and the balance Fe and impurity elements. Further, >=1 kinds of 0.03-0.50% V and 0.03-0.50% Nb are incorporated therein. Part of the added N is solutionized in the steel and infiltrates around the dislocation thereby retarding the transfer of the dislocation and to improve the resistance to permanent set in fatigue. On the other hand, the N exists in the steel in the form of a carbonitride by combining with the Nb and V and precipitates finely in the tempering process, thereby forbidding the transfer of the dislocation and improving the resistance to permanent set in fatigue. The N forms AlN by combining with Al to prevent the formation of the coarse crystal grains at the time of hardening.
