摘要： PURPOSE:To enable two parts to be firmly fixed, by filling edge preparation grooves in a boundary part between a shaft and the part with a metal of high strength having a low melting point and melting the metal by a heating source of high density energy to be solidified thereafter. CONSTITUTION:A shaft 2, made of cast iron, is formed to be press fitted to a through hole 1a formed in the center of a steel made gear 1. Edge preparation grooves 1b and 2a are left as previously formed respectively in a boundary part of the gear 1 and the shaft 2 in a press fit part. A recessed part, formed by these edge preparation grooves 1b and 2a, is filled with a Ni dust, and this Ni dust, to which laser light is irradiated by a laser generator 3, is melted. Next the Ni dust, which is melted, is solidified by stopping the irradiation of the laser light, and the recessed part forms a fall-off preventing ring 4 along a shape of the groove. Here the fall-off preventing ring 4 forms its periphery to be solidified rising up in a circular sectional shape by surface tension of the melted metal.

摘要： PURPOSE:To lower rattling sound by measuring backlash at two places for the point of lowest speed and another two places closest to the point of unbalanced mass every one revolution of a crank shaft in a four cylinder engine, setting backlash at the point where the minimum backlash is indicated, as a target value, and thereby determining a shim to be used for adjusting the distance between axial centers. CONSTITUTION:A balancer assembly is fitted onto a cylinder block 2. Backlash between a crank gear 20 and a balancer gear 22 is measured at two places for the point of lowest speed at the crank angles of 30 deg. and 210 deg., and also at another two places closest to the point of unbalanced mass at the crank angles of 100 deg. and 280 deg., that is, at four places in total. When the width of dispersion for the measured backlash values is within an allowable range, a target shim is so determined that the backlash value at the point indicating the minimum value is made to be a target value. When the width of dispersion is equal to or more than the allowable value, a balancer has to be replaced, and it is then affirmed whether or not backlash is within the allowable range.

摘要： PURPOSE:To make the valve timing accurate by preventing the shift of the valve timing by means of a high and low speed switching mechanism in the valve system of an internal combustion engine and to increase the valve lift to be generated by a high speed cam. CONSTITUTION:The allowable projecting amount of a cam nose part 37 of a high speed cam 35 not affecting the timing of an intake/exhaust valve is increased by the phase wherein the cam nose part 37 of the high speed cam 35 from the valve lift starting to the valve lifting is rotated later than a cam nose part 34 of the low speed cam 32 in the operating state of the low speed cam 32, thereby the adverse effect on the timing can not be easily avoided. On the other hand, the cam nose part 37 of the high speed cam 35 is retreated to the part where the valve opening and closing is not affected until the valve lift and synchronized with the cam nose part 34 of the low speed cam 32.

CONSTITUTION:In a balance shaft driving device for an internal combustion engine in which the torque of a crank shaft 10 is transmitted to a first and a second balance shaft 12 and 14 via a crank gear 20, a first balancer gear 22 and a second balancer gear 24, the braking means (for example, a spring 28) is provided, which applies friction to the first and second balance shafts 12 and 14. By this constitution, even if the crank shaft 10 fluctuates in revolution speed, the balancer gears 22 and 24 will never exceed the crank gear 20 in revolution speed, the working surface of each gear is made unchanged in direction, and no collision between the gear surfaces occurs, so that rattling sound is lowered to a great extent.

CONSTITUTION:In a gear driving type balancer for an internal combustion engine, the direction of the installation of, at least, either one of a crank gear 20 or a balancer gear 22 onto shafts 10 and 12 is so set that the maximum deviation of the tooth space of either one of the gear 20 or the gear 22 comes to the meshing position between the crank gear 20 and the balancer gear 22 when rattling is sounded at the time of the point of lowest speed on the part of the crank shaft 10. By this constitution, even if a space between the gears is widened by means of an unbalance mass when rattling is sounded, the space is absorbed by the deviation of the tooth space, and an increase in backlash between the gears is substantially restrained, so that rattling sound is thereby lowered.
