    • PURPOSE:To enable two parts to be firmly fixed, by filling edge preparation grooves in a boundary part between a shaft and the part with a metal of high strength having a low melting point and melting the metal by a heating source of high density energy to be solidified thereafter. CONSTITUTION:A shaft 2, made of cast iron, is formed to be press fitted to a through hole 1a formed in the center of a steel made gear 1. Edge preparation grooves 1b and 2a are left as previously formed respectively in a boundary part of the gear 1 and the shaft 2 in a press fit part. A recessed part, formed by these edge preparation grooves 1b and 2a, is filled with a Ni dust, and this Ni dust, to which laser light is irradiated by a laser generator 3, is melted. Next the Ni dust, which is melted, is solidified by stopping the irradiation of the laser light, and the recessed part forms a fall-off preventing ring 4 along a shape of the groove. Here the fall-off preventing ring 4 forms its periphery to be solidified rising up in a circular sectional shape by surface tension of the melted metal.

    • PURPOSE:To lower rattling sound by measuring backlash at two places for the point of lowest speed and another two places closest to the point of unbalanced mass every one revolution of a crank shaft in a four cylinder engine, setting backlash at the point where the minimum backlash is indicated, as a target value, and thereby determining a shim to be used for adjusting the distance between axial centers. CONSTITUTION:A balancer assembly is fitted onto a cylinder block 2. Backlash between a crank gear 20 and a balancer gear 22 is measured at two places for the point of lowest speed at the crank angles of 30 deg. and 210 deg., and also at another two places closest to the point of unbalanced mass at the crank angles of 100 deg. and 280 deg., that is, at four places in total. When the width of dispersion for the measured backlash values is within an allowable range, a target shim is so determined that the backlash value at the point indicating the minimum value is made to be a target value. When the width of dispersion is equal to or more than the allowable value, a balancer has to be replaced, and it is then affirmed whether or not backlash is within the allowable range.
