    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely detect the force acting on the axle of a vehicle. SOLUTION: An axle force detector 10 has distortion sensors 32, 36 for detecting the distortion of the disc part 21 of a wheel 20 mounted on an axle 12, small-sized and lightweight telemeter transmitter 42, 46 for transmitting the detected distortions, a telemeter amplifier 49 for receiving distortion signals, a rotating speed sensor 50 for detecting the rotating speed V of the axle 12, and an axle force arithmetic device 60 for calculating the force F acting on the axle 12. The axle force arithmetic device 60 calculates the force acting on the axle 12 on the basis of the distortion of the disc part 21 and the rotating speed V of the axle 12. As the rotating speed sensor 50, a one provided on a vehicle as a wheel sensor used for operation control of vehicle such as ABS or TRC is used. Consequently, the unsprung mass of the vehicle can be minimized, and the force acting on the axle 12 of the vehicle can be precisely detected.

    • PURPOSE:To shorten the working hour of a vehicle restraining device for restraining a vehicle. CONSTITUTION:The vehicle restraining device 18 is provided with a supporting section 22 which supports a coupling section 24 so that the section 24 can be moved in the vertical direction. The front end section of the coupling section 24 is provided with a ball joint 56 and a fitting section 58 equipped with a chuck 62 is provided to the joint 56. In other words, the fitting section can be freely moved not only in the vertical direction, but also in both the longitudinal and lateral directions. Therefore, when tests are started after a vehicle has been restrained by means of the device 18, the chuck 62 of the fitting section 58 is displaced in the vertical, longitudinal, and lateral directions as the vehicle makes pitching motions. Consequently, the time required by the device 18 for restraining the vehicle can be shortened because it becomes unnecessary to specify the center of gravity of the vehicle on a trial-and-error basis.
