    • PURPOSE:To obtain the stable result of inspection by deciding a threshold according to the peak brightness of brightness distribution in the case of binarization of image data. CONSTITUTION:An inspected object W to which magnetic powder liquid is stuck is photographed by a television camera C and the image data is transmitted to a picture element division means M1. In the picture element division means M1, image data of one image plane transmitted is divided every fine picture element to obtain a brightness signal of every picture element. In a brightness distribution conversion means M2, the brightness signal of every picture element obtained thus is arranged according to the brightness to obtain the distribution of the number of frequency picture elements of every brightness. Based on the data of the distribution of the number of picture elements of every brightness, the brightness (peak brightness) at which the number of picture elements is maximum is obtained in a peak detection means M3. In a binarization means M4, the threshold brightness is decided from the value of the peak brightness by previously set rule and the image data is binarized based on the threshold.

    • PURPOSE:To detect the smoothness of the film automatically and accurately without flawing the film by providing a stripe pattern projecting means, a Fourier transforming means, a filter means, and a smoothness deciding means. CONSTITUTION:The stripe pattern projecting means M1 projects a predetermined basic stripe pattern on a coated body to be inspected. Then the Fourier transforming means M2 processes an image of the stripe pattern projected on the surface of the body to be inspected by the stripe pattern projecting means M1 by Fourier transformation. A filter means M3 removes the component of the image corresponding to the basic stripe pattern projected by the stripe pattern projecting means M1 from the component of the Fourier-transformed image. A smoothness deciding means M4 detects the quantities of light of the images before and after the filter means M3 and decides the smoothness of the film of the body to be inspected according to the detected quantities of light. Thus, the distortion and disorder of the image of the light-shape pattern on the surface of the body to be inspected to decide the film smoothness of the object body without contacting the object body directly.

    • PURPOSE:To always enable automatic judgment of an object to be inspected accurately by arranging a brightness distribution generating means, a differentiation means and a binarizing means. CONSTITUTION:An object W to be inspected having a magnetic powder liquid adhering thereto is taken with a TV camera C and after digitized to a brightness data per pixel, it undergoes a contour accentuation processing by a contour accentuating means BD. Then, an image data thus processed is sent to a brightness distribution generating means M1 and a brightness signal per pixel is rearranged by a brightness to generate a frequency per brightness. Then, in a differentiation means M2, a data of distribution of number of pixels per brightness undergoes a differential computation by brightness to determine a differentiation brightness distribution. Then, a binarizing means M3 determines a threshold according to a rule predetermined from this differentiation brightness distribution to binarize the image data from the means BD by the threshold thus obtained. This enables the obtaining of a binary image of a defect alone extracted thereby achieving automatic judgment of the object W to be inspected accurately.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a detection apparatus which prevents a visual field from being changed due to the distance between a face to be detected and a camera and which evaluates the finished state, especially the expulsion and surface flash feeling, of a coating face. SOLUTION: In a photographing part 30, a light source 36 by which a face 14, to be inspected, on a vehicle is irradiated with striped-pattern light with repeating light and shade is installed, and a semitransparent mirror 38 which reflects projected light 40 from the light source 38 so as to be projected on the face 14 to be inspected and which transmits reflected light 42 from the face 14 to be inspected is installed. In addition, an optical means which is installed between a camera 18 and the face 14 to be inspected and by which only beams of light 42' parallel to the optical axis 44 of the camera 18 out of beams of reflected light 42 are image-formed is provided. The optical means is provided with a telecentric lens by which the beams of light parallel to the optical axis 44 out of the beams of reflected light from the face 14 to be inspected are image-formed. Thereby, even when the distance between the camera 18 and the face 14 to be inspected is changed a little, an expulsion and surface flash feeling can be measured stably.
