    • [PROBLEMS] To provide a woven fabric for airbags, which are a kind of aut omotive safeguard, the woven fabric being inexpensive, improved in both slip page resistance and tear strength, which influence airbag deployment perform ance, and having low gas permeability; and to preferably provide a woven fab ric for airbags which is as easily recyclable as uncoated fabrics or a woven fabric for airbags which is self-extinguishing with respect to combustibili ty. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] The woven fabric for airbags is a woven fab ric made of synthetic fibers which has been coated on at least one side with a thermoplastic synthetic resin. Due to the coating with the thermoplastic synthetic resin, the slippage resistance and tear strength of this woven fab ric each is at least 1.3 times that of the uncoated woven fabric. Preferably , the woven fabric for airbags is lowly gas permeable, is self-extinguishing with respect to combustibility, and can be easily palletized again.

    • Low cost a fabric for airbags, one of safety devices for automobiles, in which both edgecomb resistance and tear strength (factors affecting inflating properties of an airbag) are improved. It is capable of being recycled as easily as an uncoated fabric and has self-extinguishing property. A fabric for airbags which comprises a synthetic fiber woven fabric and synthetic thermoplastic resin applied on at least one side of the synthetic fiber woven fabric, characterized in that, by applying the synthetic thermoplastic resin, both edgecomb resistance and tear strength of the synthetic fiber woven fabric become 1.3 times or more as large as respective values of the synthetic fiber woven fabric before applying the synthetic thermoplastic resin and that the synthetic thermoplastic resin is a polyamide resin which contains a soft segment having a molecular weight of 100 to 5000. Preferably, the fabric for airbags has low air permeability and self-extinguishing property, and is capable of being repelletized with ease.
