摘要： QUICK-CHANGE TOOL A quick-change tool comprises a shank assembly and a cutting head cartridge detachably mounted on the shank assembly. The cartridge supports thereon a cutting insert and is provided with a receptacle engaging portion on the rear end portion thereof. The shank assembly comprises a shank body having an axial bore and a draw bar slidably held in the axial bore. The draw bar is provided with a plug engaging portion on its front end. The engaginq portions are provided with flat engaging surfaces. The cartridge is fixed to the shank assembly by rearwardly drawing the draw bar with the engaging portions being engaged with each other. The shank body is provided with a step-like extension extending forwardly from the lower part of its front end surface below the axial bore. A key member adapted to be snugly received between a pair of laterally opposed walls on the cartridge body is fixed to the step-like extension. The receptacle engaging portion is formed of laterally opposed side walls and a cross bar portion connecting the upper ends of the side walls. A laterally elongated upper abutment surfaces are formed on the rear end surface of the cross bar portion and on the front end surface of the shank body. Laterally elongated lower abutment surfaces are formed on the front end surface of the step-like extension and the rear end portion of the cartridge body. When the cartridge is fixed to the shank body the upper abutment surfaces abut against each other, the lower abutment surfaces abut against each other and the receptacle engaging portion rests on the step-like extension with the key member received between the walls.

CONSTITUTION:In this tool head fitted with a rapid tool exchange mechanism, a draw bolt 5 is pulled by rotation of a sliding nut 7, and its detachable operation takes place by a head 4 existing inside a bag groove 14 of a cutter head 3. In this case, the draw bolt 5 is made contact with a key block 9 with a machined surface of the head 4 slidden. Therefore, a degree of setting accuracy and rigidity in the cutter head is raised up and the rate of operation is thus improved.

摘要： PURPOSE:To improve cutting work efficiency by providing central concave portions with the cutting edge of a throw away tip in an off-and-on way. CONSTITUTION:A throw away tip 3 is fixed with a screw 5 in the tip pocket 2 of a cylindrical cutter proper 1 by utilizing a fitting hole 4 of the tip. The tip 3 consists of rhombic boards and centrally concave portions 6 are provided concavely longitudinally in the boards. The flank 7 divided into sections is provided with concave and convex portions, on which semicircle nicks 8 are formed. A lead is given to the surface 7 rotationally symmetrical about the ridge 9 of the cutting edge in such a way that its thickness is gradually reduced. Due to the existence of the nick 8, the chip divided into sections is led to the concave portion 6, which plays a role as a pocket, and cutting work efficiency is thus improved.

Screw threads 14, 15 provided on the inside and outside surfaces of the rotary ring 11 are made different in the pitch from each other or made as right and left screw threads at the same pitch so that the ring can be appropriately moved in the axial direction. Since the engaging ring 12 is always operated together with the rod 13 by the motion of the rotary ring 11, the throw- away tip can be attached and detached by the wedge member 9 at the same time when the rotary ring 11 is operated.

The slider 9 is provided in the side with an integrally projecting key 13, and a screwed hole 15 into which a theeaded portion 14 of a pivot 10 is screwed. A set key 18 is located in a recess portion 16 of the pivot 10 and can make rolling contact with an abutting surface 22 of the holder 1 so that the pivot 10 cannot rotate.
