    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To raise used fraction of recovered uranium in a fuel assembly, by using recovered uranium obtained by reprocessing of spent fuel in the highest enrichment pellets in fuel assembly. SOLUTION: A fuel assembly has natural uranium at the both ends and the enrichment distribution in a fuel rod is highest at A which is followed by B, C, D and E lower in this order. The fuel rod types are 1 to 5 according to the enrichment distribution. The fuel rod type P is fuel rod of short length, type G is fuel rod including gadolinia and type 16 is water rods. As a fuel assembly for boiling water reactor has a plenty of light water around a fuel assembly, low enrichment fuel rods are arranged in the periphery and high enrichment fuel rods, in the center part to ensure thermal margin. By this arrangement, when the average enrichment increases, the loading fraction of fuel pellet with the highest enrichment becomes high. By using recovered uranium for fuel pellets of the highest enrichment, using quantity of recovered uranium can be raised.
