摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a large capacity recording medium in which selection information being able to select efficiently reproduced data being able to select is recorded. SOLUTION: One or plural title sets 84 making a title set as a unit and a volume information file 82 controlling this title set 84 is recorded in an optical disk. However, control information of the title set 84 controlling it and reproduced data are stored in different files respectively in each title set 84. In retrieving of such optical disk, first, volume information file 82 is read out, and procedure for reproducing reproduced object and control information about an aimed title set 84 are obtained. Data is reproduced by using this control information 82.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To navigate data which renders itself to a special reproduction, by recording control signals as digital data within prescribed sectors. SOLUTION: A track is continuously formed in a spiral shape as the region, in which data are normally recorded, in a recording layer 16 of an information region 25. The track is divided into plural physical sections. Continuous numbers are then put to these sectors and data are recorded using these sectors as references. In a data recording region 28 of the region 25, reproducing information, video data, subvideo data and audio data are similarly recorded as pits (changes of physical conditions). When a pickup reads the digital data, the sectors are used as references and the control signals including the addresses, which indicate the relative positional relationship on a disk with respect to other sector groups located in the inner peripheral or the outer peripheral side, are recorded as digital data in the prescribed sector located in the group in a readable condition.

摘要： PURPOSE: To provide a recording medium for recording data provided with navigation data for navigating data by which the special reproduction of rapid traverse or rewind reproduction or the like can be performed by providing a navigation pack in a video navigation unit. CONSTITUTION: In this recording medium, video data is compressed into a pack 82 set in an MPEG and stored into a video object unit (VOBU) 85 as a pack row to be reproduced during a predetermined period of time. The video object unit contains a navigation pack (NAV pack) 86 disposed at the head of the pack row, and a number of video object units are arranged to constitute a data cell (C-IDN) 84. In the navigation pack 86, reproduction information for searching the video object unit 85 and search information for searching other video object units are written.

SOLUTION: A navigation pack including navigation data are arranged at the leading position in each data unit. Succeeding the unit, plural data packs are arranged. These packs are made by coding and packing and the reproducing data including any one of audio, video and subvideo data. In the navigation pack, inclusion is made for the search information in which the addresses of the data units that are search objects to be continuously reproduced in the front or the back of the address of the data unit including the navigation pack as a reference. Then, during a retrieval, other data units are searched while referring to the addresses of the search information.
