SOLUTION: A high-frequency acceleration cavity 7 is provided with a guide wave tube 15a for wave-guiding a specified high-order mode exiting in a cavity body 10 while charged particle beam BE is accelerated as well as an antenna 12 and a tuner 13 that are mounted on the cavity body 10. This wave guide tube 15a is constituted by an inner conductor 18 having a tube-shaped outer conductor 18 and an inner conductor 17 having its outer diameter smaller than an inner diameter of that outer conductor 18 and mounted on the cavity body 10 in a state in which a circular space part SP formed by the inside face of the outer conductor 18 and the outside face of the inner conductor 17 faces the inside of the cavity body, i.e., via a sectional circular slot 16a. A high-frequency absorber 19 capable of absorbing the high-order mode of the circular space part SP is arranged.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain detailed information regarding a beam by driving a detection part which exchanges charges with the beam in addition to the driving of a fluorescent plate. CONSTITUTION:The beam monitor is provided with the detection part which has a detection loop exposure part 2 for interchanging charged particles and charges with the beam moving in a beam duct 1 and is covered with an insulating part 3 except the most tip end of a conductor loop having a rectangular coil at the tip part. The detection part is driven by a driving mechanism 7 in a vacuum container 6 connected to the duct 1 airtightly through a flange 5. Then the fluorescent plate 4 fitted to the detection part is inserted into the duct 1 in the center, the arrival of the beam is confirmed, and after its outline is observed, the exposure part 2 is moved to the beam position. When the beam strikes on the exposure part 2 at this time, a current flows through the loop and information on the beam current and beam shape is obtained through feedthrough 8. The position of the exposure part 2 is adjusted the mechanism 7 to obtain even information on the spatial distribution of the beam, thus obtaining the detailed information.

    • PURPOSE:To provide a high frequency undulator for circularly polarized light or elliptically polarized light with short wavelength. CONSTITUTION:An electromagnetic field with a resonated mode from the antenna port 12a of a high frequency undulator by a rod antenna undulates electrons in vertical planes and an electromagnetic field with a resonated mode from an antenna port 12a by a rod antenna undulates electrons in horizontal planes. Then, high frequency energy with the same frequency and phase shifted by 90 degrees is sent from the antenna ports 12a, 12b an obtained electromagnetic field with phase shifted by 90 degrees is excited. At that time, when electron beams pass above the axias, the electrons proceed while drawing spiral orbits. Consequently, undulated light of ellipitcally polarized light with short wavelength can be obtained. Also, in the case high frequency energy with the same intensity is sent respectively from two rod antenna 12a, 12b, undulated light of circularly polarized light can be obtained.

    • PURPOSE:To restrict multipactoring discharge, supply rated power without consideration of aging or operation, and avoid damage of a vacuum window by providing a magnetic circuit consisting of permanent magnets in a high frequency acceleration cavity. CONSTITUTION:Strong magnetic bodies 15 of a two-parted disc plate are tightened to a cavity outer cylinder 1 and an antenna installing flange 4b. Permanent magnets in the form of a two-parted cylinder are put between the bodies 15. At this time, the distribution of an electric field E is radial. When primary electrons are applied to generate secondary electrons, therefore, they receive a force in the circumferential direction to be bent without going straight ahead. Because a frequency at which the electrons reciprocate between an inner and an outer conductor is different from a frequency of the high frequency electric field, multipactoring discharge is restricted. Damage of a vacuum window 13 of ceramic can thus be prevented, and a rated power can be supplied easily without considering of aging of operation.

    • PURPOSE: To provide sufficient magnetic field intensity with small high frequency power by using a superconductive high frequency cavity as a high frequency cavity, and to provide undulator light of short wavelength by shortening an equivalent electromagnetic field period. CONSTITUTION: A liquid helium vessel 5 cools a superconductive high frequency undulator 1 to a superconductive state. Liquid helium 6 is injected from a liquid helium injection port 7 and the undulator 1 is immersed in it. The liquid helium vessel 5 is heat-insulated by a vacuum vessel 9 and between those two vessels a magnetic shield 10 composed of a magnetic material is equipped for magnetically shielding the undulator 1. A liquid nitrogen pipe is laid on a surface for liquid nitrogen heat insulation. In a beam port 2, a portion thereof in the liquid helium vessel 5 is made of a superconductor, while the outside portion is made of a stainless steel material of normal conductor. Since a superconductive high frequency cavity of a cylindrical shape is used, the high frequency undulator can be made superconductive.

    • PURPOSE:To efficiently correct the deviation from a closed orbit resulted from the end leaked magnetic field of a deflecting electromagnet. CONSTITUTION:A particle accelerator is provided with a deflecting electromagnet 4 for applying a determined directional magnetic field to an electron beam in a vacuum duct 3 to form a circumferential orbit, and a high frequency accelerating cavity 5 for accelerating the electron beam. The particle accelerator also has an accelerating frequency control device 21 for controlling the accelerating frequency of the high frequency accelerating cavity 5 so that the slippage from the closed orbit of the electron beam is minimized during the acceleration of the electron beam. The accelerating frequency control device 21 increases the accelerating frequency of the high frequency accelerating cavity 5 when the electron beam is shifted on the outside of the designed orbit by the end leaked magnetic field of the deflecting electromagnet 4, and reduces the accelerating frequency when it is shifted on the inside.

SOLUTION: A charged particles beam is accelerated and extracted by using a plurality of synchrotrons mounted coaxially along a direction vertical to a rotary face of the charged particles. Here, the deflecting electromagnets 7, 7 mounted on the synchrotrons 3, 3 comprise the specifications common to the upper and lower synchrotrons 3, 3, and the lattices (arrangement of the electromagnets) are also made the same as each another. With such a structure, the current value of the charged particles beam can be increased and the deriving period of the beam can be shortened, so that the irradiation method of the beam can be determined from a wider range of selection.
