The resultant material contains the lower hydrocarbon hydrate-like material at (0.5-1.5):1 compositional ratio of the methane to water in pores of the porous material.

The slurry is transported from the bottom of the container to a decomposition section C with a pump in a transport pipe section B through a conductor. In the decomposition section C, the pressure is decreased and/or heating is applied if necessary to decompose the inclusion compd., and the released lower hydrocarbon gas is recovered.
