    • PURPOSE:To eliminate occurrence of positive reactivity insertion in a core even with void inflow in the core and keep the safety of the reactor by separating the core periphery having negative sodium coolant void coefficient and the core center having positive one. CONSTITUTION:In order to let the coolant flow in fuel assemblies 3, coolant inlets 8 are provided in connection pipe 4 and an opening 9 is provided on an entrance nozzle 5. The coolant flows through the inlets 8 and openings 9 on the entrance nozzles 5 and in the fuel assemblies 3. The position of the coolant inlet 8a for the core periphery is set higher than the coolant inlet 8b in the core center. Therefore, if void is included in the coolant, the void is accumulated in the upper space in a high pressure plenum 7 and the gradual increase of the void results in its flowing out of the coolant inlets 8 provided on the side wall of the connection pipe 7. In this situation, the fuel assemblies 3 the void flows in are in the core periphery having negative sodium void coefficient and so no positive reactivity insertion is realized.
