    • PURPOSE:To recover alkali metal carbonate by a simple process through a method wherein waste slag is treated by hot water while carbon dioxide is blown into waste slag obtained after molten iron is desulfurized and dephosphorized to prepare alkali metal carbonate extract solution. CONSTITUTION:While carbon dioxide is blown into waste slag generated by desulfurizing and dephosphorizing treatment of molten iron, hot water treatment is carried out at the same time and a blowing amount of carbon dioxide is regulated so as to adjust a pH of an extract solution within a range of 9.5-11.5. Thereby, an elluted amount of sulfur component within waste slag is controlled to a small amount as well as the ellution of silicate component is also controlled and unreacted alkali within waste slag is extracted as carbonate salt. The obtained extract solution contains sodium carbonate, phosphate and a small amount of sulfur component. From this extracted solution, sodium carbonate is recovered by a recovering and concentrating process or the like of sulfur and phosphorus component and is reused in a desulfurizing process or the like.

    • PURPOSE:To recover high purity alkali carbonate which is reusable from filtrate by the procedure in which waste slag produced when molten pig iron is desulfurized or dephosphorated by an alkali carbonate is extracted with hot water while blowing CO2 into the apparatus, and then the extracted solution is mixed with iron ion and sediment is filtered. CONSTITUTION:The molten pig iron obtained at the blast furnace 1 is sent to the desulfurization and dephosphoration process 2 to cause reaction with Na2CO3 added in a fixed amount, whereby S is converted into Na2S and P is converted into sodium phosphate. And, the pig iron thus treated is sent to the converter 6 and mixed with CaO, etc. for refining, and then sent to the casting process 7. On the other hand, the waste slag formed in the process 2 is sent to the extraction and washing process 3, where extraction and washing are made with hot water while injecting CO2-containing gas to crystallize most of S ion in the form of iron sulfide. And, the extracted solution is sent to the sedimentation tank 4 and mixed with iron ion to precipitate iron sulfide and iron phosphate and removed them. Then, the filtrate is concentrated and then sent to the fractional crystallization process 5 to separate NaCO3 sediment for removal and recovery.

    • PURPOSE:To draw out completely a residual molten steel in a tundish, at the time of finishing the pouring of a molten steel, by removing slag by sucking it at the time of finishing the pouring, in pouring the molten steel into a mold from a ladle through the tundish. CONSTITUTION:A molten steel S is charged into a tundish 1 from a ladle 2 through a ladle nozzle 3 and a long nozzle 4, and is poured into molds 6 from tundish nozzles 5. Here, the surface of molten steel S is a range of the molten steel S poured from the nozzle 3, is partitioned by an upper weir 7 sagged from the upper part in the tundish 1, to prevent the dispersion of slag Sl, contained in the poured molten steel. Then, when the charging of molten steel from the ladle 2 to the tundish 1 is finished, immediately before or after the finish of charging; the pouring of molten steel from the tundish 1 into the molds 6, is continued while removing the slag especially from the inside of weir 7 by a suction-type slag remover 8. And when the surface of residual molten steel in the tundish 1 descends lower than the weir 7, the pouring is continued till the residual molten steel is drawn out completely while removing th slag from the whole surface of molten metal, before withdrawing the empty tundish 1.

    • PURPOSE:To improve safely and highly efficiently the terminal part of an ingot and to make possible remote operation by starting the suction and removal of a molten layer consisting of powder, etc. by a dry type suction device right after or just before the end of casting into a mold and cooling the surface of a molten steel by the suction continued thereafter. CONSTITUTION:The suction port 3 of the dry type suction device 2 is disposed to a suitable position H above a molten metal surface S right after or just before the end of casting into the mold 1. The air G2 on the surface S is then sucked by the gas G1 ejected from an ejection port 4 by which the molten layer 7 consisting of the powder, etc. on the surface S is sucked together and is discharged G3 from a discharge pipe 6. The suction is continued thereafter until the ingot leaves the mold 1 to cool and solidify the surface S of the molten metal. The terminal of the ingot is improved without the need for charging of a coolant in the conventional practice. The above-mentioned suction system prevents the sticking of ore slag to the inside surface of the device 2 and contributes to the extension of the equipment life. The weldability of the sucked-up layer 7 is decreased if a basic compd. is blown by air from the midway of the suction pipe 5 into the suction device 2. The clogging and injury of said device are then prevented furthermore.
