摘要： The invention relates to a method for processing data of video pictures for displaying the pictures on a display de-vice like a plasma display panel. For having a good video picture quality one key characteristic is to have a good re-sponse fidelity of the plasma cells. This is not always the case since the fidelity of each cell depends on the excita-tion of the neighboring cells. The so-called neighborhood effect can reduce the vertical sharpness in the picture. The invention solves this problem with a vertical peaking process in which it is analysed whether the cell excitation in an activated sub-field after an inactivated sub-field for a current pixel gets support by a parallel cascaded cell ex-citation of a neighbouring cell. If no such support is found, the sub-field code word for the current pixel is modified in such a manner that the entry in the sub-field code word for the inactivated sub-field is replaced by an entry for an activated sub-field. In this way it is assured that cell excitation in the activated sub-fields for the current pixel is supported by a parallel cascaded cell exci-tation in the neighbouring cell in order to maintain the cascade effect.

摘要： Phosphor based display technologies show artefacts like "sticking" or "ghost" images produced by "marking" or "burn-in" effects. In order to remove these artefacts it is proposed to activate a portion of the display screen (10) asa wiper and to move the wiper at least one time over the complete display screen (10) or a part of the display screen (10). The wiper will homogenize the complete video screen in order to make the ghost images less visible.Another embodiment is dedicated to the reduction of the short-term burning effect. Here, a dynamic correction of the displayed picture is done. A memorized picture could be subtracted from the current picture in order to reduce the visibility of the short term sticking effect.

摘要： A plasma display panel is a pure linear display and does not provide a nonlinear gamma behaviour like a CRT so that an artificial gamma function has to be applied to the signal in digital form. This gamma function increases the quantization steps in the dark areas whereas the quantization steps will be reduced in the luminous reas. The basic idea is to apply an adaptive noise filtering after the gammatization process. The adaptive filtering is a specific filtering which is adapted to the gammatization quantization noise. In other words, the filtering will be maximum for dark areas and its efficacy will be automatically decreased when the luminance of the area is increasing.

摘要： A method, apparatus and system for providing color grading or color correction for displays includes a plurality of virtual device models where each virtual device model has a virtual model specification (VMS) which controls a display feature. Each display includes a display specification including a display requirement or requirements. An apparatus of the present invention is configured to compare the display feature of at least one VMS against the display requirement of the display specification to determine a best match therebetween to select a virtual device model to control a display picture. Color correction is further provided in post production using the VMS to provide consistency across multiple display types.
