摘要： A method of separating hydrocarbons (such as short chain paraffins and olefins) from non-hydrocarbon gases using short-cycle time concentration swing adsorption processes. The hydrocarbons are adsorbed from the gaseous stream on water-stable highly siliceous nanoporous materials, e.g., such as of aluminum-deficient faujasite-type zeolites, then desorbed from the adsorbent in the presence of steam. Optionally, the steam is desorbed from the adsorbent through the use of air or inert gas or a recycle of the non-adsorbed gas.

摘要： Partial oxidation of hydrocarbons particularly to produce hydrogen and carbon monoxide is carried out by a typically cyclical process which includes passing air or other gas containing oxygen through an oxygen-selective mixed conductor, typically a perovskite ceramic substance, at elevated temperature, thereby adsorbing oxygen from the air, and subsequently contacting the hot oxygen-containing ceramic substance with a hydrocarbon. During the partial oxidation reaction phase of the process, the sorbed oxygen reacts with the hydrocarbon, thereby producing the desired gas products and regenerating the adsorbent for the next cycle of the process.

摘要： A noble gas selected from xenon, neon, krypton or mixtures of these is recovered from a process chamber (A) by purging the chamber with one of several gases and then separating the noble gas from the purge gas by one of several techniques. The separated noble gas is further purified to remove trace impurities and is then recycled for reuse in the process chamber (A). The purge gas may be recycled or disposed of, depending upon the particular purge gas used and its purity. In a specific embodiment, hydrogen is used as the purge gas and it is separated from the noble gas by high temperature membrane separation using a palladium membrane (26). The hydrogen, obtained in high purity, and the noble gas are each recycled for reuse in the process chamber (A).

摘要： Nitrogen or air typically containing not more than 0.5 ppm by volume of carbon monoxide is produced by temperature swing adsorption. A nitrogen stream or air stream containing up to about 100 ppm by volume of carbon monoxide is subjected to adsorption at a temperature below 150K in an adsorption bed containing calcium-exchanged type X zeolite, type 5A zeolite or 13X zeolite, which removes substantially all of the carbon monoxide from the nitrogen stream or air stream. The adsorbent is regenerated by subjecting it to a temperature in the range of minus 20 to plus 250°C. If the feed is air, a nitrogen product is obtained by fractional distillation of the purified air. If the feed is nitrogen it may be formed by fractional distillation of air.

摘要： A process for producing a substantially oxygen-free inert gas product such as argon containing not more than one ppm by volume of oxygen and not more than 1 volume per million of water vapour comprises introducing hydrogen into a compressed crude argon gas stream which contains oxygen.
The hydrogen is added at a rate at least sufficient to meet the stoichiometric requirement for reaction with the oxygen impurity to form water vapour. The argon stream passes through a first catalytic reactor 5, in which the oxygen impurity reacts at elevated temperature with hydrogen to form water vapour. The resulting gas stream contains less than 500 vpm of oxygen. It is cooled in a heat exchanger 8 and flows into one of vessels 30 and 32. It first encounters a first layer of adsorbent 34 or 36 effective to remove water vapour therefrom, then a layer of oxidation catalyst 38 or 40 which enables residual oxygen in the argon to react with residual hydrogen to form water vapour, and finally a second layer of adsorbent 42 or 44 effective to remove the water vapour formed in the layer 38 or 40.

A mixture of lower (decomposition) temperature and higher (decomposition) temperature binders is used in fabricating the paper used to form the monolith structure. The finished monolith structure is heated to a temperature sufficient to remove the lower temperature binder while leaving the higher temperature binder to maintain integrity in the monolith.

摘要： The present invention relates to a process for removing nitrogen oxides from gas streams such as furnace or utility boiler flue gas streams. An ozone adsorption system is used to adsorb and concentrate ozone. A slip stream containing nitrogen oxides is introduced into an ozone adsorption system to desorb ozone and the ozone-containing slip stream gas is then directed to a reactor duct along with the primary nitrogen oxide-containing gas stream where the nitrogen oxides are converted to N 2 O 5 .
