    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealed rivetless nut plate capable of being manufactured with minimum components, comprising a shroud, and being quickly and easily assembled.
      SOLUTION: This rivetless nut plate comprises a holder 30, a nut 32 and a gasket 22 being held in the shroud 12. The nut 32 has a threaded through hole for receiving a fastening tool, and has a hole or a slit to receive a corresponding projecting part or recessed part of the holder. Otherwise, the nut may have a projecting part or a recessed part for the projecting part or the recessed part of the holder, and the holder may have a corresponding hole or slit. This sealed rivetless nut plate is constituted to provide the concrete quantity of x-axis and y-axis floatation. The shroud 12 has a roll-shaped end part for keeping an assembly in an undamaged state. The shroud permits the movement only by the nominal quantity in the vertical axis direction of the nut. A mandrel 58 is engaged with the assembly before installation. The mandrel is drawn out during the installation, and a tubular part of the holder is brought into contact with a work piece and expanded, thus the sealed rivetless nut plate is fixed to a fixed position.

    • A sealed rivetless nut plate (10) which includes a retainer (30), a nut (32) and a gasket (22), all retained in a shroud (12). The nut (32) includes a threaded throughbore (38) for threadably receiving a fastener as well as either holes or slots (42, 44) which receive corresponding protrusions or dimples (46) on the retainer (30). Alternatively, the nut (32) can include protrusions or dimples with the retainer (30) providing corresponding holes or slots. Regardless, this feature is configured to provide a specific amount of x-axis and y-axis floatation. The shroud (12) has a rolled end (20) which keeps the assembly intact. The shroud (12) allows only a nominal amount of movement of the nut (32) in the vertical axis. Before installation, a mandrel (58) is engaged in the assembly. During installation, the mandrel (58) is pulled out, causing a tubular portion (52) of the retainer (30) to expand, against a workpiece, thereby securing the sealed rivetless nut plate (10) in position.
