    • The invention relates to a means and a method for structuring technical information in establishing a knowledge base and trouble shooting in technical equipment. By means of the invention an intelligent, electronical document is created in the quickest and most efficient way for troubleshooting, guidance and training in a complex technical equipment. According to the invention the required concepts are defined which are capable of describing states in the knowledge base, node types are defined indicating what type of information/instruction a node is to contain, views are read containing pictures or graphic descriptions of the equipment, nodes are inserted into the views to provide access points to various parts of the equipment, at least one of the nodes being a rule node containing at least one rule. The rule contains a condition part and a conclusion part, the condition part consisting of conditions on the equipment and the conclusion part containing measures to be taken if the conditions are fulfilled. The invention is primarily used by developers and troubleshooters. The developers contribute with knowledge about technical equipment and with practical knowledge, such as rules of thumb. The troubleshooters can use the system without specific previous knowledge to perform troubleshooting, being systematically guided by the system to the source of failure.

    • The invention relates to a method of motion compensation and elastic deformation in picture sequences in transmission of moving pictures between a transmitter and a receiver, that is a picture coding method in which the pixel values of the picture are determined using a previous picture. In the transmitter, each picture in the picture sequence is divided into triangles by suitably choosing corner points, and the motion between two successive pictures is estimated such that the motion vectors of all the corner points can be established. Information about the corner points and/or the motion vectors is transmitted from the transmitter to the receiver, in which the motion vectors of the internal points of the triangles are calculated using the three transmitted motion vectors belonging to the respective triangle. The pixel values in the corner points of the triangles and in the internal points of the triangles are calculated using the trasmitted and the calculated motion vectors, respectively. Preferably, the motion vectors of the internal points of the triangles are calculated by interpolation.

    • The invention relates to a method for testing handover in mobile telephone networks. A test mobile is allowed to pass through relevant traffic routes whilst it is transmitting a radio signal and registering its position. Actual base stations synchronously measure the signal strength which is received from the test mobile. The values obtained are compiled with respect to time and respective registered position of the test mobile in a measurement database. Handover can then be tested by varying selected handover parameters during a time characteristic played back with the aid of the measurement database. The measurement is thus carried out in the uplink which provides a realistic basis for determining a desired handover algorithm. According to the invention, a single measuring case makes possible tests of a large number of algorithms without disturbing the network.

    • The invention relates to a method and an arrangement for radiocommunication between a transmitter and a receiver, especially transmission of information between mobile units and/or fixed units in connection with monitoring and controlling traffic. A problem with this type of communication arises when a single wave is reflected from the roadway or ground and this wave is of approximately the same strength as the direct wave between transmitter and receiver. According to the invention, the problem is overcome by using communication at high frequencies, the GHz range, and using a spread-spectrum technique. By utilising a spread-spectrum technique, the relative distance and relative speed between transmitter and receiver can also be calculated by simple means, which is a special advantage in this application.
