    • A technique for operating an RNC of a communication network during a soft handover process of a mobile terminal between a first BS and at least one second BS that are connected to the RNC is provided. A method implementation of the technique comprises receiving, at a MAC protocol layer of the RNC, a first data frame stream from the first BS via a first data path and a second data frame stream from the second BS via a second data path. A relative delay between the data frames of the first and the second data frame stream regarding their arrival at the RNC is determined. The relative delay takes into account different systematic propagation durations from the first BS and the second BS to the RNC. At then the MAC protocol layer, data frames of the first and the second data frame stream are then merged into a third data frame stream which is transmitted to a protocol layer above the MAC protocol layer. The merging of the data frames is carried out in dependence on the relative delay.

    • A method and apparatus for enabling service aware congestion control of PS (Packet Switched) data to be performed in a communication network. In the communication network PS data is communicated between a core network of the communication network and one or more User Equipments, UE, via the communication network node. Each UE is associated to the core network by one or more PS connections, and each of the PS connections is applied by the UE for a respective PS data service. When performing the service aware congestion control, information related to a respective PS data service is obtained, andpriority information is provided to a resource manager arranged in the communication network. The priority information is based on the information related to the respective PS data service for a plurality of the PS connections. The resource manager is then enabled to perform congestion control of the PS connections based on the priority information. By determining for which PS data services the PS connections are currently applied, and prioritise the PS connections accordingly, the communication network node may reallocate RAN communication resources to higher prioritised PS data services from less prioritised PS data services. Thereby, a more flexible and effective use of available RAN communication resources may be achieved. (Figure 2)

    • The invention deals with the adjustment of the nominal target error rate for transmission of data from a priority queue to a new predetermined target error rate depending on the state of the priority queue. Usually, the adjustment to the new predetermined target error rate will be to a predefined lower target error rate based on states of the priority queue, such as amount of data in the priority queue, time passed since the latest transmission of data from the priority queue, whether the amount of data in the priority queue will fit into one transport block, whether the data unit to be transmitted for the priority queue is the first or last data unit in the priority queue and may also be based on the type of data stored in the priority queue. There may be more than one such priority queue.
