    • Methods and devices enabling improved switch-on procedures during the reactivation of base stations already switched off to save power are provided. In accordance with one embodiment a method of activating a de-activated cell in a cellular radio system is provided. First measurements are collected from a number of user equipments connected to the cellular radio system. Based on the collected measurements a model for mapping a cell, the best cell, providing the least power increase in the cellular radio system when activated is constructed. When the traffic demand of the cellular radio system cannot be served using already activated cells it is determined to activate the cell that is mapped as the best cell to be activated. Hereby, the cells of a cellular radio system can be managed to maximally utilize the energy used in the system.

    • This disclosure provides a method, a Back-end-server (102, 400, 506) and a system (500) for protection of location information of a UE. The Back-end-server can receive (104, 202, 302) a request message from an operator interface (504) requesting location information of the UE. Based on probability criteria or blocking factors, it is determined (110, 208, 306-310) whether location information may be transferred to the operator interface. One advantage is that a quantitative security for the privacy of subscribers is provided, with which the privacy of the subscribers is not disclosed. I. e., the application addresses conflicting issues between the requirements of performance monitoring through radio environment measurements & statistics, RES (i. e., user devices measure radio network quality and communicate the results, together with location information, to the core network); and the legal requirements of user privacy. SOLUTION: access of location data is only provided to field-engineers if the probability of identifying and locating a particular user reaches a threshold; Such probability may be calculated based on: number of users in a selected area (a.k.a. k-anonymity), size of the selected area, user (i-)mobility, frequency of location requests, either by the same entity, or directed to the same user.

    • System, methods, nodes, and computer program for handling performance monitoring data in a communication network are described. The communication network (100) comprises a plurality of network nodes (102). The performance monitoring data are generated by a network node (102). The performance monitoring data are a stream of data characterizing the performance of the network node (102). The method comprises determining, by the network node (102), whether an encryption condition for encrypting the performance monitoring data is fulfilled. The method further comprises based on the result of determining, encrypting, by the network node (102), the performance monitoring data. The method further comprises subsequent to the encrypting, sending, by the network node (102), the encrypted performance monitoring data to a performance monitoring data collector (112). The method further comprises authorizing, by a security network operation center (114), the performance monitoring data collector (112) to decrypt the encrypted performance monitoring data. The system, nodes, and computer program associated with these methods are also described. Therefore an improved handling of performance monitoring data in a communication network is achieved in terms of improved confidentiality of subscriber data.
