    • In a method and a device for requesting Channel Quality Indication (CQI) reports from a mobile station of a cellular radio system, the CQI reports are requested in response to a measured Block Error Rate (BLER) of transmissions from the mobile station. In accordance with one embodiment of the present invention a CQI report is requested if the BLER of the mobile station is above a predetermined threshold value C. The threshold value C can be set to a value related to the BLER target. In particular the value C can be set to the same value or as a value close the BLER that is targeted to try to adapt the CQI report request to how well the base station knows the channel. It can also be set higher or lower to also consider how much CQl reporting the base station estimates can be afforded when it comes to uplink resources and uplink grant signaling in the downlink.

    • The invention relates to a method for selecting a channel quality reporting mode for reporting estimated channel quality and to a radio base station (100) adapted to select such a channel quality reporting mode. The reporting mode is selected from a list of predetermined reporting modes. The radio base station comprises a measurement unit (101) adapted to measure a traffic load in the cell (110) and a comparator unit (102) adapted to compare the measured traffic load with a predefined threshold. The radio base station (100) further comprises a selector unit (103) adapted to select a channel quality reporting mode based on a result from the comparison, and a transceiver (104). The transceiver (104) is adapted to send configuration information to a user equipment (120) (UE) to inform the UE of the channel quality reporting mode to use in order to enable the UE to report channel quality estimations of a set up communication channel.

    • The present invention relates to a method and a base station (14, 700)for load balancing in Semi-Persistent Scheduling, SPS transmission. The method can comprise to activate downlink or uplink SPS transmission for a User Equipment (12, step 204), and to obtain information about transmission load comprising SPS transmission or HARQ ACK/NACK responses to SPS transmissions, on a Physical Shared or Control Channel (steps 206; 402; 406; 502, 504, 508, 510). Based on the obtained information it is determined for which subframe within aduration of T subframes, the transmission load comprising SPS transmission or HARQ ACK/NACK response to SPS transmissions, on a Physical Shared Channel or on a Physical Control Channel is the lowest within the duration of T subframes (steps 208; 404; 408; 506, 512, 514). SPS transmission is then scheduled to be valid in the determined subframe having the lowest SPS transmission load on the Physical Shared Channelor to be valid in a subframe causing the HARQ ACK/NACK responses to the SPS transmissions to be transmitted in the subframe having the lowest of HARQ ACK/NACK responses to the SPS transmissions, within the duration of T subframes (step 210).This load balancing provides a number of advantages comprising less postponed scheduling, less unused subframes and less collisions on said channels.
