摘要： A solution to the problem of convergence of the BroadBand Forum, BBF, fixed and Third Generation Partnership Project, 3GPP, mobile domains in the area of policy management proposes a single policy server common to both of these domains, A Policy and Charging Rules Function, PCRF, (22) in the mobile domain (12) can provide policy control for both fixed ( 14) and mobile (12) domains. A Mediation Entity, ME, (52) in the 3GPP domain enables such PCRF approach. The ME may be introduced as a 3GPP mobile domain-based network function or element between a fixed domain-based Border Network Gateway, BNG, (34) and such PCRF (22). With regard to the BBF fixed domain (14), the ME (52) acts before the BNG (34) as a Broadband Policy Control Function, BPCF, and, with regard to the 3GPP mobile domain, the ME acts before the PCRF (22) as a gateway implementing a Bearer Binding and Event Reporting Function, BBERF, or as a Policy and Charging Enforcement Function, PCEF.

The PCC architecture is enabled to determine whether separate bearers need to be established for service(s) that demand MBR>GBR when no ECN support is provided. 摘要： A method of handling packets sent across a packet switched network comprising a policy server acting as a policy and charging rules function. The method comprises providing a first set of policy rules at said policy server, and installing these from the policy server into an access gateway over a first service control session. These policy rules cause packets belonging to a given IP session to be diverted by the access gateway to a network address translator. At the network address translator, an IP source address of said packets is translated into a translated IP source address identifying a deep packet inspection node. The network address translator forwards the packets to the deep packet inspection node configured to perform deep packet inspection of IP packets.

摘要： A policy and charge control (PCC) architecture and method are described herein for handling access point name-aggregate maximum bit rate (APN-AMBR) subscription data that is associated with a subscriber regardless if the subscriber's UE is located in an AMBR capable access (i.e., E-UTRAN) or in an AMBR non-capable access (i.e., 3G. SGSN). The PCC architecture includes: (a) a policy server (e.g. PCRF) that installs the APN-AMBR subscription data during an IP session establishment for the subscriber in the IP level convergence point and (b) an IP level convergence point that enforces the APN-AMBR subscription data for a lifetime of an IP session associated with the IP session establishment.

摘要： At present, applying conventional policy and charging control in scenarios where a huge amount of users is supported, such as machine-to-machine type communication devices, represents a number of drawbacks, such as the amount of data to be stored in subscriber databases and the access rate, the signalling load, and the processing performance of nodes. The present invention provides for a method of policy control and enhanced apparatuses enabling the support of user community profiles that apply to a plurality of subscribers, the generation and enforcement of community policy and charging rules derived from the user community profiles and preferably installed upon establishment of a session for a first user. Further sessions to be established for subsequent users of the plurality of users would be enforced with said community policy and charging rules without needs for handling them on individual basis.
