摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plate of an optical recording medium, which is excellent in pattern transfer and has less warping against environmental changes. SOLUTION: This optical recording medium plate is 0.3-1.2 mm thick made from a mixture of 99.9-60.0 weight % (component A) of amorphous heat curable resin and 0.1-40.0 weight % (component B) of amorphous heat curable resin insoluble to the above A. The plate consists of a surface layer 3-30 μm thick, an intermediate layer 5-100 μm thick, and the inner layers. It is characterized in that the surface layer constitutes an island in which rods of length/diameter=3.0-50.0 of B component occupy 60% in total number extending radially from the plate center, the inner layer constitutes an island in which elliptical spheres of major axis/minor-axis=1.0-3.0 of B component are dispersed more than 80% in total number, and the intermediate layers constitute islands in between.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium for surface recording and reproducing of simple constitution and more preferably the optical recording medium which is made higher in recording density. SOLUTION: This optical recording medium includes a substrate of 0.3 to 1.2 mm in thickness which consists of a thermoplastic resin and is provided with embossed pits or guide grooves, a reflection layer which is provided on the substrate and a transparent protective layer of 3 to 200 μm in thickness which is disposed thereon. The optical recording medium reproduces recording information in accordance with the change in the intensity of the reflected light obtained by irradiating the recording medium with a light beam from the transparent protective layer side. The substrate described above consists of the thermoplastic resin which is >=22,000 kgf/cm in the modulus of elasticity in bending, >=0.003 in the tanδmeasured at 40 deg.C and 18 Hz pursuant to ISO 6721-4, =90 deg.C in the load deflection temperature measured under load 1.82 MPa pursuant to ASTM D-648.
