    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute earthquake strengthening of steel frame members by a simple configuration and with excellent workability.SOLUTION: An existing brace 14 comprising two angles 12 is combined in a T shape by putting one flange each of the angles 12 together back to back and bonded 18 with a bolt holding an intermediate plate 16 therebetween. The brace 14 is surrounded by a stiffening pipe 22 except both ends and through-holes 20 are provided on both ends. The stiffening pipe 22 is turned to a pipe shape surrounding the brace 14 by two stiffeners 23 having a joint surface in the longitudinal direction. A recess 23A is molded on the stiffeners 23 by press working, and a flange 23B is projected from both sides of the recess 23A. Spacers 28, 30 are provided at a predetermined interval inside the stiffening pipe 22, and a predetermined gap is provided between the spacers 28, 30 and the brace 14. A locking bolt 24 to be abutted with the end face of the stiffening pipe 22 is provided on one end of the brace 14.
