    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expansion joint having a simple and economical structure capable of dispensing with a water drain mechanism by using a water drain pipe.
      SOLUTION: This expansion joint is constituted by fixing one end side of a top plate 5 covering a part above a slit 3 having fixed width on either of floor slabs 1, 2 opposing across the slit 3, supporting the other end side of the top plate 5 slidably on the floor slab 2 on the other side, and arranging a flexible water cut-off sheet 6 having both ends fixed on the right and left floor slabs 1, 2 below the top plate 5. The water cut-off sheet 6 is held in such a shape that its central part is always positioned above upper faces of the floor slabs 1, 2 to let the rainwater intruding below the top plate 5 and the water used for cleaning flow down on the upper faces of the floor slabs 1, 2 by the water cut-off sheet 6.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively provide a light-weight steel partition wall which has a sound insulation performance capable of preventing squeak noise (rubbing noise) from occurring over a long period and a fire-resistant performance.
      SOLUTION: This light-weight steel partition wall includes an upper runner 2, a lower runner 3, studs 4 the upper and lower ends of which are inserted in the upper and lower runners, gypsum boards 5 affixed to the studs, and glass wool 6 filled in the hollow parts of the gypsum boards. The studs and the upper runner are displaced relative to each other in the in-plane direction to absorb the inter-layer displacement of a building. Back batten plates 7 are interposed staggered between the studs and the gypsum boards. The upper runner uses one the lateral width B of which is larger than the lateral width A of the studs and smaller than the sum of the lateral width A of the studs and the thicknesses C, C of the back batten plates which are disposed on both sides of the studs. An elastic cushioning material 8 joined to the studs is interposed between the upper end both side surfaces of the studs and the inner surface of the upper runner at a position higher than the upper end of the back batten plates to thereby form the gap b between the gypsum boards and the outer surface of the upper runner.
