    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a construction method for base isolation of an existing building, whereby the base isolation of the building can be achieved easily through simple operations in a short period without obstructing normal operations in the building.
SOLUTION: Axial tension materials 1 at upper and lower portions are surrounded by circumferentially split tubular members 2, 3 except an area into which a base isolation device should be inserted, and the split parts of the tubular members are joined together. The tubular members at the upper and lower portions are freely removably connected together by a connecting member 5 while forming an opening 8 into which the base isolation device can be inserted, and a hardenable filler is injected between the axial tension materials 1 and the tubular members 2, 3 and hardened. Thereafter, the axial tension materials in the range in which the base isolation device should be inserted are cut, and after the base isolation device is inserted into these cut parts from the opening 8 and installed, the connecting member 5 connecting the tubular members together is removed, whereby axial tensions working on the axial tension materials 1 are borne via the base isolation device.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the safety of pile foundation structure by reducing horizontal force received by a foundation pile. SOLUTION: Foundation piles 2 are disposed to the lower sections of each foundation slab 1a (places just under columns 1b for a building 1) of the building 1. The head sections of the foundation piles 2 are connected to the foundation slabs 1a while the foundation piles 2 are extended to lower sections in the ground 3, and the front end sections of the foundation piles 2 are fixed onto a specified bearing stratum 4. Piles 5 for resisting horizontal force are buried into the ground 3 in the lower sections of each central section of footing beams 1c. The head sections of the piles 5 for resisting horizontal force are faced oppositely at specified spaces in the vertical direction to the undersides of the footing beams 1c, and extended downwards in the ground 3. Elastoplastic dampers 6 are interposed among the pile heads of the piles 5 for resisting horizontal force and the footing beams 1c. The elastoplastic dampers 6 have fixed restoring-force characteristics, and can absorb input energy by the hysteresis loop of the restoring-force characteristics.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the sliding of wooden members in an early stage at fixed portion by tightening expanded-diameter spacers for wooden hole through bolts and nuts, and biting them into the inner periphery of connecting holes. CONSTITUTION:Bolts 21 to 24 are pushed into the bolt holes in a connecting plate 31 through washers 5. Also, expanded-diameter spacers 11 are pushed into the connecting holes 1Aa and 1Ba in wooden members 1A and 1B, respectively. Then bolts 21 to 24 are pushed into the cylindrical bore for pushing in the bolts in each expanded-diameter spacer 11, and nuts 4 are screwed in tightened into the top of the above bolts through a connecting plate 3 and the washers 5. As the nuts are tightened, an axial compressive force is given to the expanded-diameter spacers 11 and the spacers begins to buck starting from the expanded portion 11a where slits S are provided. When the connecting plates 31 and 32 are pressed against the both sides of the wooden members 1A and 1B, the expanded portion 11a is bucked and expanded further, and bitten into the inner periphery of the connecting holes 1Aa and 1Ba.
