    • PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of dislocation to a folded part so as to seal a pressure fluid positively even with the generation of a crack to a bent part by folding the peripheral edge part of a hole bored in a metal base radially so as to be overlapped with the body part of the base, and welding the folded part to the body part along the peripheral edge of the hole. CONSTITUTION:A metal gasket is provided with a base 10 made of an elastic metal plate, and the peripheral edge part of a hole bored to form a combustion chamber hole 14 is folded onto the protruding part 20a side of a bead 20 to form a folded part 10b. The folded part 10b is welded, along the hole peripheral edge, to the body part 10d of the base 10 by a laser welding machine so as to form a substantially continuous weld line 21 and the folded part 10b is adhesively jointed to the body part 10d. Accordingly, even if a crack is generated to a bent part 10c, there is no fear of dislocation being generated to the folded part 10b or an interstice being generated to a joint face between the body part 10 and the folded part 10b to cause the admission of high-temperature high-pressure combustion gas, so that stable sealing performance is secured.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the breakage of a grommet by a plurality of projections in projection, separating each other, on the periphery of a through hole on a gasket body of an engine for automobile. CONSTITUTION:Thin metal subplates 4 are piled on the upper surface of a gasket body 1, i.e., on the cylinder head side, and a grommet 5 is formed by downward turning back the edge part on the combustion chamber hole 2 side of the subplate 4, and further, a metal ring-shaped member 6 is accommodated inside. A plurality of projections 7 are formed in projection downward on the periphery of the combustion chamber hole 2 of the gasket body 1, separating each other, and springily attached with a cylinder block. The projection 7 is formed into a linear or arcuate form at each intermediate position of four bolt holes 3 on the periphery of the combustion chamber hole 2. Therefore, the relatively large variation of the gap between the cylinder head and the cylinder block is suppressed, and the breakage of the grommet is effectively prevented, and the sealing action can be maintained for a longer period.

CONSTITUTION:The height h1 and h2 of an inner bead 4 is set so that it may be lowest h2 at the position close to a bolt fastening position, that is, a bolt hole 3, and that it may be higher h1 smoothly as it separates from there, whereby even if the face pressure between a cylinder head and a cylinder block falls as it separates from the bolt fastening position, approximately equal contact force can be obtained. And at the same time with this, the width w1 and w2 of the inner bead 4 are so arranged that it may be narrowest w2 at the position close to the bolt fastening position and that it may be wider w1 smoothly as it separates from there. Since the inner bead 4 is lower than the outer bead 5 and besides narrower, the rigidity of the inner bead 4 can be made larger than that of the outer bead 5.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent decrease in the inside diameter by forming a bearing layer containing resin on a back plate, forming an axial through groove on the bearing layer, and exposing the back plate of a designated width to the bottom portion of the groove to let thermal expansion escape in the circumferential direction. CONSTITUTION:A circular bush is formed by forming a bearing layer 2 on a back plate 1, providing chamfering portions 4 on the inner periphery sides of both end portions 3, and bending the above cylindrically in such a manner that the bearing layer is put inside to meet both end portions 3 mutually. The chamfering portions 4 are made larger in such a manner as to form a through groove where the back plate 1 is exposed when both end portions 3 are joined. Further, axial through grooves 6, 7 are provided to expose the back plate 1. Resin such as PTFE, polyacetal, or the like is contained in the bearing layer. The thermal expansion of the bearing layer is let escape in the circumferential direction by the through grooves, and the inside diameter is decreased not to change the clearance with the shaft. Furthermore, the decrease in the area of a sliding surface can be prevented as much as possible.

In the sealing part 9, a cavity 10 is formed in the direction of compression to allow a relatively free compression, and the sealing part 9 is brought into close contact by a uniform contacting force between a cylinder head 5 and a cylinder block 6. In addition, the pressure regulating valve 20 partitions the inside of the diaphragm case 21 into the vacuum chamber 23 and the atmospheric pressure chamber 24 and a stepping motor 44 provided in the upper diaphragm case 21 is used to separate a valve disc 42 from a valve seat 42 via a nut member and an elevating rod 43.

In addition, as the axial dimension L between the caulked part 5d and supporting part 5c after assembling is obtained by the highly rigid space regulating members 14, 15 and spacer 10, the axial dimension of the whole case 5 can be controlled with high accuracy.
