    • A PCB dipole antenna (1) for placing in an electronic device includes a first dipole antenna element (2), a second dipole antenna element (3), a printed circuit board (4), a first feeder apparatus (71) and a second feeder apparatus (72). The first dipole antenna element is perpendicular to the second dipole antenna element. Each first and second dipole antenna element includes two dipole cells respectively disposed on opposite surfaces of the printed circuit board. Each first and second dipole antenna element is fed through the first and second feeder apparatuses respectively. Switching of dual polarized radiation of the PCB dipole antenna is carried out under the control of an external device. This makes full use of two of the three radiation planes, and provides maximum diversity radiation efficiency.

    • A stripline PCB dipole antenna for use in an electronic device includes a substrate (3), a first dipole antenna (1), a second dipole antenna (2), a first feeder apparatus (41), and a second feeder apparatus (42). The first and second dipole antennas are generally T-shaped, are disposed on opposite surfaces of the substrate, are perpendicular to each other, and are fed through the first and second feeder apparatuses respectively. The first and second feeder apparatuses feed the antennas near respective edges of the substrate, to reduce any adverse influences that their wiring paths may have on the stripline PCB dipole antenna. The stripline PCB dipole antenna utilizes a switch mechanism of dual polarized radiation to switch between two of the three radiation planes, namely the XY-plane, the XZ-plane and the YZ-plane. The stripline PCB dipole antenna thus achieves optimum diversity reception efficiency under the control of an external device.

    • A planar printed circuit antenna (1) comprises a printed circuit board (PCB) (10) mounted on an insulative substrate (100), a plurality of electronic dipole units (20) and a coaxial feeder element (30). The PCB comprises an upper layer (101), and a lower layer (102) opposite the upper layer and fixed on the insulative substrate. The coaxial feeder element includes an RF cable (305), and a neck (303) securely attached around the RF cable for engaging the coaxial feeder element with the substrate. The RF cable has a conducting core wire (301) connected to the upper layer via a jumper wire (304), and an outer conductor (302) around the conducting core wire directly connected to the lower layer. The electronic dipole units are respectively arranged on the upper and lower layers of the PCB, and are respectively coupled to the conducting core wire and the outer conductor. The PCB has space available for accommodating the jumper wire of varying length. The jumper wire has an insulative coating. In cooperation with the available space of the PCB the jumper wire is adapted to be easily substituted by the other jumper wire having different length, thereby changing an effective frequency band of the antenna.

    • An antenna module 30 of the present invention comprises a wire first dipole antenna arm 32 oriented in a first direction and a wire second dipole antenna arm 34 oriented in a second direction that is perpendicular to the first direction, said two arms being respectively electrically connected to a printed circuit board 36 at two points, and a gap G being formed between the two points. Said two antenna arms are interfaced to the associated transmitting/receiving circuitry by a coaxial cable 38. Values of the length of the two arms, the length of the gap, the diameter of each arm, an impedance of the coaxial cable, and an operating frequency range are chosen to obviate the need for matching circuitry to perform the functions of transfer, balancing and matching between the first and second dipole antenna arms. Therefore, the antenna module is simplified and can be placed compactly at a corner of the portable computer to provide improved performance.
