    • A three-dimensional composite of silica spheres interconnected by resin is provided having a three-dimensional network structure including silica particles having the following structural and dynamic characteristics and a resin present in the internal pores of said network:(a) three-dimensionally interconnected spherical silica particles having a diameter of 6 to 30 .mu.m;(b) on the surface of said spherical silica particles, a specific surface area of 300 to 400 m.sup.2 /g and pores having a radius of 5 to 10 nm;(c) a bond interconnecting two spherical silica particles having a cross-sectional area within the range of 1/2 to 1/4 of the maximum cross-sectional area of that particle which is smaller in maximum cross-sectional area;(d) mutually communicating voids formed within said network structure representing a void content which is 40 to 60%, based on the whole network structure;(e) a silica content is 60 to 80% by weight based on the whole network structure;(f) the network structure substantially remaining intact when said network structure is heat-treated by maintaining said network structure in air both at a temperature of 600.degree. C. for 5 hours and at a temperature of 800.degree. C. for 3 hours;(g) said network structure capable of being machined and having an elasticity modulus of 1.5 to 2.0 GPa at temperatures below the glass transition temperature and an elasticity modulus of 0.18 to 0.25 GPa at temperatures between the glass transition point and 300.degree. C.

    • The disposable tooth cleaning article for manually cleaning tooth surfaces is disclosed. The disposable tooth cleaning article extends in a longitudinal direction and a transverse direction, and has a wearer's finger faced surface and an outer surface. The disposable tooth cleaning article comprises a first sheet and a second sheet. The first sheet and the second sheet form a pouch with an opening. The disposable tooth cleaning article has a distal portion extending opposite to the pouch beyond the opening in the longitudinal direction. The distal portion is wound about the wearer's finger when the disposable tooth cleaning article is used. The finger faced surface is provided with a first attachment means and a second attachment means. The first attachment means is located on the finger faced surface of the distal portion adjacent to one transverse edge of the opening to maintain the wound configuration of the distal portion. The second attachment means is located on the finger faced surface of the disposable tooth cleaning article to contact to the wearer's finger when the distal portion is wound about the finger.

    • In the head-fixing apparatus of the film heating system in an image forming apparatus, a heat capacity is controlled to be as small as possible because the quick-start property is recognized to be more importance. Thus, heat conductivity in the longitudinal direction is poor and, due to a relationship between the area where a recording material is conveyed and the heating area of the energizing heating resistance layer, a) heat is insufficient at the end portion in the initial period and b) unusual temperature rising occurs at the end portion at the time of continuous heat-fixing. In order to resolve those problem, an apparatus which can control adequately temperature at the area where a recording material is conveyed without rising temperature at the end portion of a heater as a non-sheet passing area.

    • A contact transfer member capable of preventing ablation of an image bearing member at a side opposite to a driving side and improving durability of the image bearing member, and an image forming apparatus including the contact transfer member are provided. In the image forming apparatus including a transfer roller (the contract transfer member) having the shape of a rotating member and including an ion-conductive elastic layer contacting a photosensitive member (the image bearing member), and a transfer device for transferring a toner image on the photosensitive member onto a recording material while grasping and conveying the recording material at a transfer nip portion formed between the transfer roller and the photosensitive drum, the outer diameter of the transfer roller at a side opposite to the driving side is made smaller than the outer diameter of the transfer roller at the driving side. It is thereby possible to provide a uniform transfer-nip width in the longitudinal direction of the transfer roller, and to improve durability of the photosensitive drum by preventing ablation of the photosensitive drum at a side opposite to the driving side.
