    • A system and methods for application control which enable the delivery of Rich Internet Applications such as HD/Video Stream, Gaming, and Webservice delivery over mobile operator's PLMN is disclosed. The methods define Application Program Interfaces for Application Service Providers for delivering rich applications such as NetFlix Video service, Interactive Network Gaming etc., over wireless mobile network using state of the art web protocols such as HTTP, RTMP etc. The platform that incorporates these methods interacts with 3GPP/UMTS/LTE/CDMA defined standard compliant network devices using the standard network interfaces and present application specific control function. It further identifies extensions to the logical interfaces defined by the corresponding standards (3GPP, 3GPP2 etc.). Additionally, methods and procedures for controlling QoS in the transit network gateways, such as SGSN, GGSN, or P-GW, while delivering application traffic, are also disclosed.

    • Systems and methods for providing voice communications and data communications are provided, including: receiving an attach message from a mobile node indicating the mobile node can fallback from a first radio access technology to a second radio access technology and including location information identifying a location of the mobile node, the attach message received via the first radio access technology; sending a translated location updated message to a remote switching device; receiving a service request message from the mobile node, the service request message requesting initiation of a voice call, the service request message received via the first radio access technology; and based on the service request message and the indication that the mobile node can fallback to the second radio access technology, setting up the voice call with the mobile node via the second radio access technology.

    • In some embodiments, a gateway in a communications network is provided including a subscriber interface and a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) registrar; wherein the SIP registrar: receives a first register message as a result of a request associated with a user and a mobile device seeking network authentication; and sends a request for subscriber information to the subscriber interface; the subscriber interface: retrieves the subscriber information from the subscriber database; and sends the subscriber information to the SIP registrar; the SIP registrar further: sends challenge information including a password request and a request for predetermined response information previously selected by the user to the mobile device; receives a second register message including user response information in response to the challenge information; and authenticates the mobile device and the user based at least in part on whether the user response information matches the predetermined response information.

    • A method and system are provided for reducing the number of wireless transactions between an application server and mobile subscribers in a wireless communications system. The communications system includes a plurality of wireless mobile subscribers communicating with network devices via the application server. Each of the mobile subscribers includes a lightweight client, and the application server includes an alias for each mobile subscriber. For each session between a mobile subscriber and a network device: the application server receives a communication from the network device intended to be processed at a client residing on the mobile subscriber in accordance with a given protocol. The system distributes the processing of the communication between the lightweight client on the mobile subscriber and the alias for the mobile subscriber on the application server to reduce the processing performed by the lightweight client and the number of wireless transactions between the mobile subscriber and the application server.

    • The system includes switching nodes with multiple ports for node-host communication, each port thereby connects the switching nodes to one or more hosts. One of the ports in a switching node is designated as a primary or master port and it connects the switching node to a default host. The default host controls all ports in the switching node and because applications on the default port are given the highest priority during switching node processing, the default host is useful for applications that require instant response from the switch. The other ports in the switching node are secondary ports and they connect the switching node to one or more secondary hosts simultaneously. The applications on the secondary hosts are given a lower priority than the default host's application. Therefore, the secondary hosts are useful for applications that do not require instant response from the switching nodes.
