    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition well-balancedly improved in low fuel consumption, fracture strength and processability, and to provide a pneumatic tire using the same.SOLUTION: The rubber composition contains: a conjugated dienic polymer obtained by reacting active terminals of a copolymer obtained by polymerizing monomer components containing a conjugated diene compound and a silicon-containing vinyl compound using a polymerization initiator represented by formula (I), with a compound containing a nitrogen atom and/or a silicon atom; a silica; and a liquid resin having a softening point of -20 to 20°C. The content of the conjugated dienic polymer in 100 mass% of the rubber component is 25 to 50 mass%. The content of the silica in 100 parts by mass of the rubber component is 40 to 80 parts by mass. The content of the liquid resin is 1 to 20 parts by mass.
