    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for efficiently recovering platinum group elements by efficiently concentrating platinum group elements into a molten copper phase obtained from copper iron scrap (scrap containing both copper and iron) containing platinum group elements typified by platinum.
      SOLUTION: The copper iron scrap containing the platinum group elements, is melted and a carbon source is caused to be contained in the obtained molten material, and thus, this molten material comprises two-liquid phases of a molten copper phase containing one or more kinds rare metals selected from the group composed of Nd, Pr and Dy and a molten iron phase containing carbon concentration of ≥1 mass%, and the molten copper phase is recovered by separating this two liquid phases, and the platinum melted in this molten copper phase is separated and recovered from the molten copper phase. The copper iron scrap may contain rare metal and a member containing the rare metal may be added into the molten material. Further, the total concentration of the rare metal contained in the molten copper phase, is desirable to be ≥1 mass%.

SOLUTION: In a molten material by melting the copper and iron mixed scrap in a furnace, this molten material is made to be the two liquid phases of the molten copper phase and the molten iron phase by melting carbon; when the copper and the iron are separately recovered by separating into the two-liquid phases, the furnace for melting the copper and iron mixed scrap is made to be a carbonaceous material filling-up layer type melting furnace and the carbonaceous material having 20-70 mm average grain diameter is used as the filling-up layer in this melting furnace. It is desirable that the carbonaceous material is coke. and it is desirable that the tuyere in the melting furnace is two steps. Further, it is desirable that the carbonaceous concentration in the molten iron phase is ≥4 mass% and/or sulfur concentration is ≤0.05 mass%, and the copper and iron mixed scrap can contain valuable metals.     • PURPOSE:To perform safely gas substitution with low-cost gas by detecting the oxygen concn. of the waste combustion gas to be used as a medium gas, confirming that the compsn. thereof is within the range of the object for substitution and conducting the gas to a piping system for purging. CONSTITUTION:An introducing pipe 3 for waste combustion gas is successively provided to the discharging pipe 21 for waste combustion gas of a hot stove 2, and the other end thereof is communicated with an air introducing pipe 16 of a cleaning system. The oxygen concn. of the waste combustion gas introduced into the pipe 3 is analyzed continuously with a detector 5 in the stage of repairing the gas cleaning system 1 of the installation for a blast furnace gas. It is confirmed that the compsn. of the gas is within the safe limit of not inducing explosion and a water sealing valve 4 is opened to discharge the combustible gas in the system 1 with a release valve 17. At the same time, a medium gas is admitted through the pipe 3 and the pipe 16 into the system 1. The valve 4 is closed upon completion of the gas substitution and a fan 15 is changed over to an air introducing side to introduce the air into the system 1.

The operator repairs the damaged part of the furnace wall while observing said part through the optical fiber scope 14.

    • PURPOSE:To utilize effectively much Fe and Ca contained in converter slag and the heat energy of the slag by bringing molten iron discharged from a blast furnace into contact with the converter slag in the form of molten or hot slag in a mixer before the molten iron is charged into a refining furnace. CONSTITUTION:Molten iron discharged from a blast furnace and desiliconized optionally in a spout is pretreated before it is charged into a refining furnace. The pretreatment is carried out by bringing the molten iron into contact with converter slag in the form of molten or hot slag in a mixer.
