    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cermet plate-like body having high yield and excellent workability at the time of sintering.
      SOLUTION: This cermet plate-like body is made by mixing and sintering starting raw material powder made of first hard phase powder, second hard phase powder and binder phase powder. The first hard powder is made of carbide powder of Ti and at least one of carbon nitride powder and nitride powder of Ti, and is included by 40 to 65 wt.% in the starting raw material powder. The second hard phase powder is made of carbide powder, nitride powder and carbon nitride powder of one or more kinds of elements belonging to 4a, 5a and 6a groups in a periodic table.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cemented carbide which is suitable for a tool raw material and achieves reduction in uneven wear of a tool thereby contributing to the extension of the life of the tool.SOLUTION: The cemented carbide is formed by bonding between tungsten carbide (WC) particles with a bonding phase mainly composed of cobalt (Co), and the average grain size of the WC particles is 0.1-0.5 μm, and the bonding phase contains 5 to 12 mass% of Co. The average thickness of the bonding phase is 0.14 μm or smaller. The ratio of the bonding phases each having a thickness of 0.5 μm or more is 0.15% or less of the whole bonding phase. In the cemented carbide, the bonding phases (black-colored parts in Fig.1(I)) exist between micro WC particles (gray-colored parts in the same figure) thinly and evenly, and do not agglomerate micro-wisely and do not exist unevenly. Uneven wear can be suppressed and working superior in positional accuracy can be performed over a long-period of time when the cemented carbide having the microstructure like this is utilized for a micro-drill.

The cemented carbide contains 0.2-0.9 mass% Ni and 0.2-1.5 mass% Cr, and the balance is composed of a binary compound of W and C with inevitable impurities. In the binary compound of W and C, the average particle size of the WC is 0.15-0.7 μm and the standard deviation σ of the particle size of the WC is ≤0.2. The toughness is secured and the corrosion resistance is raised by containing Ni in the range.
