    • An align at fire safe and arm and electrical power supply module 10 for an electronically fuzed land mine 12. The module 10 is removably mounted into the land mine 12. Reserve batteries 16 are contained in the module 10 and are energized when a safety pin 25 is removed during mine emplacement. A slider 30 is located in the module housing 14. When the slider 30 is in its safe position, the firing train 57 of the warhead 65 of the mine 12 is interrupted. When the slider 30 is driven into its armed position by a piston actuator 32 in response to an align signal being produced by the fuzing subsystem 87 of the mine 12, the firing train 57 is completed through a transfer lead 60 located in the slider 30. The firing train detonator 44 may then be functioned by an electrical firing signal produced by the fuzing subsystem which will event the warhead 65. Detonating the firing train detonator 44 before the slider 30 is driven into its armed position, self-neutralizes the mine 12. A visual safe indicator 18 slaved off the detonation of the firing train detonator 44 produces a highly visible indicator 84 which aids in locating a self-neutralized mine 12 and to signal that the mine 12 is safe to approach and recover.

    • Apparatus for dispensing mines of short, circularly cylindrical configuration about a spin axis, comprising, in combination, a housing having an opening, an arm mounted in the housing for angular movement about a first pivotal axis between first and second positions, a spring means actuating the arm toward the second position, drive mechanism operable to move the arm to, and releaseably hold the arm in, the first position, a cylindrical friction member arcuate about the first pivotal access from a site adjacent to the opening, and a holder mounted on the arm to receive a mine with its spin axis parallel to the pivotal axis and with its cylindrical surface in engagement with the friction member, so that when the arm is moved into the first position and released, a mine in the holder is propelled along said friction member and is ejected through the opening, while rotating about the spin access.

    • An impact delay fuse for a spin launched shell for delaying detonation of e explosive charge of the shell until after impact of the shell with a target. The impact delay fuse includes a hollow housing adapted to be positioned in the shell for rotation therewith in a first direction about a shell spin axis when the shell is launched, a detonation means for detonating the explosive charge of the shell, a rotatable locking member coaxially mounted within the housing for locking the detonation means in a loaded position, and a sensing and firing mechanism for controlling rotation of the locking member to move the locking member to a release position to release the detonation means to detonate the explosive charge of the shell. The sensing and firing mechanism comprises an inertia member and inertia mounting means for mounting the inertia member coaxially in the housing to rotate with the housing in the first direction when the shell is launched and to rotate the inertia member in the first direction relative to the housing when the shell impacts with the target. Inertia bias means biases the inertia member for rotation in a second direction, opposite to the first direction, relative to the housing and coupling means engage the locking member with the inertia member for rotation therewith only when the inertia member is rotated in the second direction relative to the housing. A time delay device is also provided for preventing movement of the inertia member relative to the housing for a predetermined period after launch to prevent premature detonation of the shell.

    • A jettisoning cover for a munition arranged to be held against the end of a ring secured to the end of a munition which is fired at a high velocity through the atmosphere. The cover protects the contents of the munition from the high velocity through the atmosphere but is jettisoned after the velocity has slowed. The cover is held by two clips on the ring directed over the cover and a third clip on the cover engaging a notch in the ring. A detent mounted within a recess in the ring extending into a hole in the cover secures the cover in place.The detent is secured by a shear pin through the detent and an adjacent slider in an arcuate channel. The slider is propelled by an explosive powered piston which shears the shear pin to release the cover. A spring from the cover is wrapped around the ring when the cover is attached and provides energy to jettison the cover when the cover is released.
