    • An improved transvaginal uterine manipulator is disclosed. In the most preferred embodiment, it has an elongated housing, a releasable tip attached to the distal end of the housing, a handle lever to actuate means for pivoting the tip in anteversion and retroversion motions in such a manner that a direct positional relationship between the handle lever and tip exists, an arcuate tip position indicator, a tenaculum holder attached to the housing, a constant force spring attached within the elongated housing and to the holder for applying a constant force on a tenaculum held by the holder regardless of its position on the housing, a handle lever locking means to lock the position of the handle, and fluid delivery means through the tip to deliver fluid to the uterus.

    • A collapsible rack is disclosed which comprises a plurality of partition members which are pivotally joined together at their bases with linking members to form an expandable lazy tong structure. A plurality of guide means which are each secured to and integral with the linking members are provided for guiding stacks of sheets placed in the rack. The guide means define slanted guide surfaces which extend between the bases of adjacent partition members. The guide surfaces all have a substantially common orientation on the linking members. The guide means also serve the function of improving the rigidity of the structure, defining back-up surfaces that insure the proper support of the sheets and fan the sheets into oblique relationship with each other enabling convenient removal of the sheets.

    • A marking device is provided for marking the sclera and/or limbus of a patient's eye to standardize and define incision location and suture placement prior to cataract removal, and to aid in the intraoperative control of astigmatism. The device comprises a generally arcuate body member having opposed major surfaces with a plurality of projections extending from one of the major surfaces. The body member has an inferior arc and a superior arc with the inferior arc having a smaller radius than the superior arc. The projections are radially aligned, extending from the major surface and are adapted to be inked and to transfer ink marks to the sclera and/or limbal area of an eye. The ink marks represent the locations where incisions and sutures are to be placed.

    • A multiple clip applier including a handle and a cartridge which holds a large number of ligating clips and which snaps into a cartridge-receiving channel on the handle. The handle operates like an elongated scissors with scissors handles at one end and jaws at the other to which clips may be delivered in rapid succession. Opening and closing the scissors handles operates the mechanism of the handle to open and close the jaws and to provide a long stroke motion for delivering clips from the end of the cartridge to the nose section. Clips may be indexed through the cartridge by reciprocating parts of the cartridge with respect to one another with a short stroke cocking motion captured from the long stroke delivery motion from a cooperating slot and pin mechanism. These two motions are accomplished within the envelope of motion of the normal opening and closing of the scissors handles to operate the jaws of the applier and to feed and index clips from the cartridge to the nose. The mechanism of the present invention permits the overall shape of the handle to be small, compact and readily adaptable for use even deep in an incision site.
