    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for separating two -CH
      2 OH terminal-bearing bifunctional perfluoropolyether (PFPE) from a mixture thereof with one -CH
      2 OH terminal-bearing monofunctional PFPE.
      SOLUTION: PFPE has general formula: X
      1 -O-Rf-Y (I) [wherein Rf is a perfluoropolyoxyalkylene chain with a number average molecular weight of 500 to 10,000; X
      1 and Y are each a terminal group selected from -CFXCH
      2 OH (wherein X is F or CF
      3 ), -CF
      3 , -CF
      2 Cl, -CF
      2 CF
      2 Cl, -C
      3 F
      6 Cl, -CF
      2 Br, and -CF
      2 CF
      3 where at least one of the terminals is -CFXCH
      2 OH] and the PFPE-including liquid is obtained by the following steps (a) through (c2): (a) the PFPE mixture is added to an adsorptive solid phase under stirring, (b) the mixture obtained in (a) is filtered, (c) to the solid phase filtered in (b), is added a PFPE mixture that has higher average functional value than that of the liquid PFPE that is filtered in (b), (c2) the mixture obtained in (c) is filtered, followed by treating the solid phase that is separated in (c2) with a polar solvent whereby a liquid including the PFPE having high functional value is obtained.
