    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a synthetic gas from a heavy charge with stable function of the system, almost no problem in foaming and no difficulty in adjusting a water level, in a cooling separation process of a method for producing a synthesis gas by partially oxidizing the heavy charge such as heavy crude oil, distillation residue or the like.
      SOLUTION: The method for producing the synthesis gas includes a process in which the heavy charge is partially oxidized at ≥1,000°C and ≥20 atm. in the presence of steam using oxygen or a highly oxygen-containing air, the obtained synthetic gas 1 is cooled by directly pouring water 2 to the synthesis gas 1, subsequently cooled gas 4 and water 3 are separated through a ring formed between an adduction tube TA and a concentric tube TC installed around the adduction tube and having both open ends. The distance (L) between the lower end of the adduction tube and the lower end of the open concentric tube is equal to or larger than x [x is expressed by x=0.026F+0.15 and varies depending on a gas flow ratio (F)(expressed by kg/h/cm
      2 )] times of the diameter (D) of the lower end of the adduction pipe.
